All good advice. Nice to see you found Lloydies twin. Yeh stay away from the K&N not worth the expense and dyno time required to get things tuned in as best as one can with a standard engine. You'll most likely find yourself chasing you tail moving a dip in the curve around.

Get some new cans and start with Hawks carb thread. It's a good chance to get to know the bike, see how she runs and tinker with things. See which way you want to go next. If you want a good washable filter with a little more airflow then the BMC Street filter is the one to go for, but you would most likely need a jet kit then so you can go the other way on the needles if needs be.

Carman, I have a K&N in mine with Scorpion cans and a Factory Pro Ti jet kit. I followed the instructions in the jet kit and have found it ok fella. Try it and see how it works for you.

I have one sitting in it's original packaging waiting to stick on eBay once all the firms have got rid of old stock and the prices increase. They went up this year from about £60 to £100. 8O increase in cotton prices or something.

I've fitted K&N filter and dynojet kit to two firestorms in the past and they both ran perfect, they went on the dyno for a check and no changes needed, good power, no big dips. both d/j kits fitted as per instructions with slides drilled and middle size supplied jets fitted. one bike had Arrow carbon cans, the other remus high level

That's interesting Popkat. Bit of a marmite mod, the K&N filter.

Mine also runs a K+N, and has no holes anywhere in the range.

Maybe you just have to know how to set it up.
It's not falling off, it's an upgrade opportunity.
