It sounds like the problems I have had, it feels like the battery is flat, people suggest the R/R but I've found to my cost it's been the starter motor. If you have a booster pack try starting it straight from the starter, if it doesn't, there you go

I just swapped my starter motor, the bolt was so corroded we had to dremmel it off.... :(
once changed cleaned and a new nut attached, plus a big dollop of grease, now its starts like a dream... :thumbup:
as for symptoms, very slow turn over, lights on dash flash and dim, mine even had a whine from the starter.
it sounded like it was dry inside and there was resistance draining away the power needed to spin the motor, I had two good batteries neither got close to firing the bike.
