Sure you guys aren't Cheech and Chong?
Where do you get these ideas.
I think that's the dogs danglies.
Show us when it's in situ and working please!
I thought my Oil Pressure gauge was cool.
I need to step it up to keep up with the pineapple Eh!!
I would be to scared to hack into my tachometer like that.

Nah all you need is a felt tipped pen.
I forgot to mention that the outer plastic coating around the gipro (whatever it's called) GPI needed shaving down (pointing at oneself) I took a dremmel and a bit of scratch to it. Basically took it back to just above the inner metal casing and LCD. This made the unit smaller to fit in the recess. Plenty of silicone was used to seal and hold it in place.
It would never have gone there if I didn't suggest it and persist with carefully and methodically working out how to strip down the instrument panel. To be fair it wasn't my idea. I got the inspiration from Tweety with his CBR1000 clocks. It's something I have had in mind for a while now. and hopefully will be doing something similar with my CBR100 clocks if I ever get around to fitting them along with the 19l tank. I's also like to add an led light voltage/charging status.
ok so it was your idea, why don't you come round and finish it off then?
this morning I put the bike on a paddock stand and tried to programme the gpi. not easy when you've lost the instructions.....doh!
when I started I realised the rev counter needle was not right, at tick over it was showing 5k, so I whipped the clocks off, undid the 6 or so screws on the rear mounting plate, once separated I pulled the needle off and refitted it, turning the needle as close to the little pin that sits at the bottom centre of the rev counter.
then I loosely refitted the dash and tried again, this time the idle was just over 2k, so off again and repeated the neddle move again, refitted it again and sorted, it now reads a correct 1100rpm at idle.
once it was all bolted back together I tried to programme the gpi, I must admit I don't like doing this on a paddock stand.....
it doesn't look like I did it correctly, here's a like to a youtube video I've just uploaded....
when the ignition is switched on, the gpi reads 1 to 6 and then -.
if anyone has the programming instruction to hand or some advice please contact me.....
I've already looked at these mate, they're fitting instructions, I need the programming instructions, so far I've been unable to find them on the web....

Setup
You need to setup this module after installation. Perform the setup only when the engine is WARM so the idle speed is normal.
-
Find a long, straight road with light traffic. The unit does not learn the same gear twice, this makes it easy to set up on the road. You can even shift down and stop during the setup if needed. Do not steer the display, watch the road and ride with extreme care as always!
-
Turn the ignition On. The display counts backwards (6 to 1) indicating that the memory is clear.
-
When “L” is flashing, start the engine in Neutral and let the engine idle.
-
When the display is flashing “1”, select first gear, release the clutch and start riding normally.
The display is blinking faster while the unit is learning the gear.
-
When the display shows “n” (next), select second gear.
Repeat this process until all gears are thought.
In top gear, wait until “o” (over) is indicated and the display stops blinking.
The unit is now programmed and should indicate all gears correctly.
When ignition is turned on, the display counts forward (1 to 6) indicating that it is programmed and fully functional.
- 3 –
Reset
If some gears are not indicated correctly, reset the unit and set it up again.
If you change your gearing (install new front or rear sprocket), or you install a SpeedoHealer (or other speedometer calibrator), probably you’ll have to reset the GIpro and set it up again.
Cut off the power of the unit 6 times in a row, while the GIpro display is counting up and shows 3, 4 or 5.
You can power on/off the display by turning the ignition key on/off.
On the next power up, the display will count backwards (6 to 1).
The memory is clear now and you can perform the Setup procedure.

just tried it mac and it didn't work, but I was only disconnecting the wire coming from the unit, but would have thought that was all you had to do????

sorted it, I got it back to the learning stage, it was pretty much as you said mac....
turn on ignition and the gpi fires up and starts to go thru the sequence of 1 to 6.
but it's all down to timing.....
as soon as the number 1 appears you have to turn off the ignition
it's the same for all the numbers. 123456.
when you get to 5 and 6 the timing of turning off the ignition gets tricky.
but once the ignition is turned off on each of the numbers the system resets itself......
I will have another go at setting it up tomorrow, i'll get it right this time.....I hope.....
