Hang on a minute. If you sat up straight in your chair the offset weight would put you off balance and you would fall off the chair
breather pipe on the tap was off at the other end
That would be the fuel Vacuum line at the tap not the breather. The breather is one of the two that fit directly under the tank next to the petcock diaphragm/tap.

You could have issues with the tank breather if overfilling the tank with fuel. This can be an issue especially in hotter conditions. As fuel expands with heat it can block the tank vent causing a vapour lock.

Yep there are lots of ways to get more HP but it's not cheap to get any real horses and would cost as much as getting an SP1/2 (RC45) as performance parts are rare and expensive. So basically unless your have serous money and are dedicated to a cause, if you want more HP, your on the wrong bike. Go buy an SP, Aprillia, Ducati or even an IL4, or even a Horse

It's not always the power that makes one quick it is more about smooth riding style and getting the line right. welcome to the mad house

I think you mean RC51 or RVT for the yanks.......
I agree tho, 100 to 110bhp ain't bad for the old storm, if you want to go faster, either try shedding weight from the bike or some rider traing to improve your ability, as carl said squeezing more power from the storm isn't easy or cheap.....
aftermarket end cans are a must, you save serious weight against the original Honda items, with some carb work you'll gain a little more power and the lovely v-twin roar.....

got the bike back together today , used Loctite 609 Retaining compound , its holding up ! :D , took it out for a quick ride and noticed my sneaker was getting rather warm , looked down to see oil all over my foot  , I tore the gasket when I pulled the side off and used RTV silicone to put it back as I didn't have a new gasket , at least it runs again :) next job ...new gasket

Argh yes the generator cover paper gasket. Your best bet with them is a new paper gasket. Make sure you clean the mating surfaces up from old gasket, glue, silicone etc. A rub down with wet n dry (silicone carbide) paper works well. You can also smear a little grease on one side of the new gasket which will make it reusable in the future if you ever need to remove the cover. Saves buying a new gasket in the future

Well done, I presume it was the transfer gear then.

Upgrading the front forks and fitting an after market trick shock will make your bike quicker in the twisty bits, and that's where the MV and R1's extra bhp won't count,
