Hello fellow Stormers!
Re: Hello fellow Stormers!
Thanks guys!
I would like to get some "proper" pipes. Trouble is, I sometimes take the Mrs on the back, so would have to be low fitted so I still have the use of the foot pegs. Any recommendations? I'll be looking for something second hand, more than likely off fleabay. Don't really want to start drilling these, unless it really will make a difference.

Hello and welcome .
Re: Hello fellow Stormers!
welcome to the club.
regarding pipes, drilling and removing the rear baffle pipe makes a BIG difference to the noise.......... in my opinion it sounds better than most race pipes in this set up, deep burble but not stupid loud or harsh. only reason I changed to race pipes was for looks and weight.
oh and the std pipes are so solid they make great crash protection... don't ask how I know

Okay, so maybe I'd be happy with just doing that. Is it easy to do? Would I require any specialist tools?

Use something like this but a tad smaller...wall.j wrote:Okay, so maybe I'd be happy with just doing that. Is it easy to do? Would I require any specialist tools?

It may be that your whole purpose in life is simply to serve as a warning to others.

Haha, yeah... I'd drill my whole bike in to a pile of fillings with that thing.
Hmm... So you reckon a series of holes around outer edge of the circle plate, and just join the dots if that makes sense. Anyone used a hole cutter for this? Have you actually done it, or is there a proven and fool proof way to do it? I'm only a "kerbside mechanic"...

It's known as a "bafflectomy". Using the forum search facility should bring up some topic's posted by others who have done this mod. Here's a link to what it sounds like from Geodude:-

Thanks, Chris.
Have had a look through old posts, and I've got an idea of what's what. I'll have a go next weekend and let you know how it goes!

If you want to keep the silencers standard you can get a cheap aftermarket set for example http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Dominator-Exh ... 2c7884c254 I have these fitted tomy track vtr sound good and cheap to replace imo

Re: Hello fellow Stormers!
Welcome! Nice bike, you won't regret a set of aftermarket silencers, the sound is lovely!

Hello Jamie,
As a new owner and member of the forum myself I can tell you you've made two brilliant decisions in the last week. Change the cans as soon as you can and let your neighbours know you've got the Storm!
Welcome.

Welcome along Jamie
So turns out, you have the best coloured Storm and the best name
Great looking bike you have there, also nice to see you are "on to it" with regards to cct's and R/R.
Enjoy!
Here for a good time, not a long time.

Re: Hello fellow Stormers!
Ha, my mate told me to get a black one... Said they're faster haha. Had a new chain and sprocket yesterday, so fitted a scottoiler yesterday. Just waiting for the reg rec from the states and that'll be changed asap. Don't suppose anyone knows the bolt size for the reg rec as I believe the R1 one is thicker so requires a longer bolt...
Also, the rear hugger has been adjusted so it sits off centre. Apparently it was catching on the tyre... I'd like to get that sorted, it's a carbon looking one... Would that be an aftermarket? I've just seen one on Fleabay and that's carbon looking too...
Just purchased some second hand Ducati race cans that have been modified for the Storm. Cheap as chips at £50!
