Because it it expads when it gets hot...hence the term expansion bottle.

Stick a pipe in the bottle & syphon some out so that its just below the MAX line. See if that cures it.

Having followed the link after reading jchesshyres leaking coolant post: 6th Dec 2016...

Weird and slightly concerning coolant leak

I have to admit, after all this time time riding me Storm, I never knew there was a wee hole for coolant stuff to piddle out from. I just thought there was the overflow tube from the bottle....

Well, well - every day is a school day!!

I DO have a Haynes manual for it, but that's still sealed in the cellophane and like that it will remain.

Thanks for that photo Wicky - I'm a gonna have a look at mine tomorrow, and if it's a hole in direct contact for front-thrown-road-shite, I'll take some of me pipe cleaners and poke 'em into the hole in case mine is blocked.
If it ain't broken...f*ck about with it until it is.
