But one of the bloody chickens has eaten it.

I have a white one, a black one and a brown one and wasn't sure which one ate the bloody thing?

But then I thought back to Biology lessons, and of course! it was the black one- it's got more melanin.

To be honest, that probably works better spoken than written, but hey, it's late, I've had a hard day, put up with what you get.
Last summer I spent considerable riding time not riding but reworking a chicken house that was gifted to me by my near neighbors. It was a good design made out of inferior materials so I spent some time ripping it apart and making is sung and weather tight. My wife found a vendor of chickens and soon we have six bird housed and happy. About two months into this endeavor we came home to carnage. A bob cat had taken a fancy to our birds and it would not be denied. There were holes in the wire from claw slashes. There were great paw prints on top of the structure and worse, the offending cat had managed to pull up the wire at a corner and gain entry into the house. Not one chicken was left alive. Two looked to have actually died of fright without a mark on them. Of two we only found the wings and two were uncounted for. The chickens have not been replaced.
Thats life Jim...It's Foxes over here we dont do Bob Cats...My neighbours cat is called Cyril tho...Did find what was left of a Woodpigeon in me garden the other week.

Oh & welcome back Jim. Where you been hiding ?

We have foxes too but seeing them is rare. A couple of years ago my neighbors (that farm a couple thousand acres) had a field planted in corn. I passed by and saw two critters scamper out of the corn and I thought "they are two little dogs." But when I got close they were red with bushy tails and kind of pointy faces. Around here you see bobcats more often. They look kind of like big dogs but there cat like walk is unmistakable.

We also have a big feral hog problem. These are escaped domestic hogs that have breed with wild Spanish hogs that were imported to Texas for sport hunting. (That worked out well!) These hogs are over 400 pounds, can kill livestock, travel along creek beds, tear up crops and breed like rats. Hog hunting is big here. Some counties are paying $20 for a pare of ears and a tail. (Bounty.)

I have been a bit busy. I had to install my dad in a nursing home. He is doing good. They take good care of him but he is still not happy. My mom didn't move with him so we had to downsize her to a smaller assisted living room. I spend my time working or doing something for them. The Storm sits and the Norton sits with a pile of up grade parts sitting on its seat. I have taken the VFR out because 1) it has my hookup for my Gerbings electric jacket liner (very nice and toasty) and 2) because I can ride it with the excuse of going to see my dad.

I'll try to be around more. I miss all the news from over there.

We had the Power Ball Lottery over here a week ago. The payout was over a billion US dollars. If i had hit that I would have had you all over for barbecue and beer. (It didn't happen but I enjoyed the plan!)

Thanks everyone. It's good to be back. These days I find that I am ether working or dealing with something for my mom and dad.

Dad is OK. he is well taken care of but bored. The problem is that all the solutions to alleviate boredom are either physical (he can't do that) or mental (and he can't do that ether.)

Mom is going downhill and she can't understand why. 90 is, after all, the new 80!
