Re: Handlebar conversions
Well....
The job started well enough, but the brake hoses are nowhere near long enough
So had to go back to original setup for now.

Re: Handlebar conversions
I rode kermit today (cheers Chris) and the difference with the bar conversion is incredible, good news for me as it means I wont be needing a new bike, when i ride mine my wrists and back are sore in a matter of minutes, rode kermit for a while today and pain free.....whoop whoop
Need to order longer hoses and do the job later.
Bike back to original state now, ready for jolly jaunt in the am with Chris and Ady

Re: Handlebar conversions
I recently bought a storm which will have to go if I cant sought my ride position. I like the thought of you being impressed with Kermit, gives me hope of enjoying the storm experience. be interested to know if your conversion kit is the same as Kermit.lockwood1956 wrote:I rode kermit today (cheers Chris) and the difference with the bar conversion is incredible, good news for me as it means I wont be needing a new bike, when i ride mine my wrists and back are sore in a matter of minutes, rode kermit for a while today and pain free.....whoop whoop

Re: Handlebar conversions
Hope you've seen Ady's post mate but if not, we'll be there for 11am not 10am as we're going to go to Aldi first when they open to pick up some of the cheap chain cleaner and oils. Expect it'll all be sold by 10 past 10.lockwood1956 wrote:I rode kermit today (cheers Chris) and the difference with the bar conversion is incredible, good news for me as it means I wont be needing a new bike, when i ride mine my wrists and back are sore in a matter of minutes, rode kermit for a while today and pain free.....whoop whoop

He's selling some brake lines that might fit? Get him to measure them for you.

Make sure that you fully extend the forks, preferably on a headstock stand, to make sure you don't stretch or snap one as the forks extend without weight on the front end- first wheelie is usually the one that leaves you without brakes

By the way I also have the matching rear brake line, but forgot to put it on the for sale listing.
It's not falling off, it's an upgrade opportunity.
Re: Handlebar conversions
Thanks for the update, a shame the brake hoses were not long enough. Good though you were able to test ride Kermit to give you an idea what a flat bar conversion would feel like, and the fact you could ride the bike without being in pain,lockwood1956 wrote:Well....

Re: Handlebar conversions
Sorry about the brake line advice... Were you using std Honda lines, or standard aftermarket ones? I am pretty sure the aftermarket ones are long enough

Absolutely no problem, I would have attempted it with the std lines anyway so no harm done, it was fun messing with the bike anyhoooooo

Re: Handlebar conversions
Yes standard lines
Tony if the lines you have will fit then I will take them off your hands

Either put the bike on a headstock stand so that the front forks are fully extended, or have someone lean the bike on it's sidestand so the the front wheel's off the ground.
Then run a bit of string form the mc across through the fairing down past the front of the steering head and down to the LH caliper. Measure the string....
Allow for a little bend where the line is secured to the mudguard and enters the caliper.
If that one fits the right hand side one will, too.
I've put the measurements on my For Sale post to reference them against your measurement.
I can't measure them for you as I don't know how much further from the standard position your new bars have positioned the MC.
These are quite generous on a std setup, though, so I'm hopeful.
