AFAIK you really need a FENSA registered company to fit your doors and windows, although new build properties or extensions, conservatories and porches are exempt. If you don't have a FENSA certificate, should you wish to sell your property in the future you'll have to get the council out to inspect and pass the work. Providing the new windows and doors have been fitted correctly you'll be okay, but of course it will cost you for the council to do the inspection.
