They definitely help otherwise you have to loosen the banjo a little to bleed the MS and make a mess. :eek2

That's a cool idea I haven't seen that before. What size and pitch is required for the front MC banjo bolt? M10x1.25?
If it aint broke, get your bloody hands off it!

Yep....just make sure it's a double banjo

TBH I wasn't impressed with the Venhill one. The smaller nut on the bleed nipple was a bit weak. It was either a Chinese copy or Goodridge I think I ended up with.

When you rebuilt the starter did you meter it to make sure that the lead is insulated from the casing?
Re brakes, I had something similar a few weeks ago, turned out to be the mc.....
Main fuse is OK. Not sure what you mean by 'meter it' but iirc there were two washers that looked like insulation on the starter terminal. I did give everything a dose of contact cleaner though.

Cheers for the brake info.
Ensure that there is no continuity between the bolt and the casing.
There should be three insulating pieces, one is a plastic tube surrounding the bolt as it pierces the casing, the other two are the insulating washers either side.
But if the main fuse is intact it's not likely that this is the problem.
It's not falling off, it's an upgrade opportunity.

Daughter is now back home and it looks like I've got a free weekend.

Going to spend some time with a multimeter and try and source the electrical fault but I've half a mind to sack it off and buy one that works. It looks like reasonable bike's can be had for not a lot of cash.

No continuity from the starter motor bolt so it must be something I did wrong when I took the alarm out as I renewed some terminals at the same time.

What order are the terminals to the starter relay supposed to be in? From the left side with the fuse nearest to you I have yellow/red bottom left, green/red bottom right, red/white top left and red top right. Is that correct?

Also, stripping the wrapping back to the rest of the harness exposes the red wire splitting into two. One of the alarm wires was joined there but the two red wires looked original so I just stuck heatshrink over the joint. Should the red wire split?

The ignition starter circuit has probably been cut somewhere if you had an alarm for the ignition cut out. Same principle as your sidestand switch so you need to find that and join the wires back together. I would start looking around the areas where you disconnected the alarm. Use the wiring diagram in the workshop knowleagbase that I just posted in my last post regarding RR's

Cheers Carl, that starts tonight. Can you confirm I've got the terminals the right way round on the starter relay? I'd like to eliminate that before I start stripping tape off the loom.
