yes, really. I gathered some info before I started with my engine ... If you are serious, you have to start with searching for performance cams, this is the part which is hard to replicate. In Japan, Moriwaki or Yoshimura stage1 cams should be found. If you don´t find the cams, the rest is no point to do.

Im going to call my bike shop tomorrow as I think the front cct is going. Ill ask him about yoshi or morowoki. Theres a beat up vtr near my work im gonna fire it up and ask how much. Ill ask them about cams. I get the stage thing with ditchfeild but I dont know cams too good lift durration overlap. I gotta study more for what I want my bike to do. Im gonna change the rods just because I might as well. I saw some injection kits and they seem wayy too expensive for what you get. I need to call haltech.

So I do stupod stuff like this at times but an rc 51 engine can be had for around 250 us.... Parts are off shelf for builds... It has efi... My only complaint about the bike would be the carbs and part avalibility for performance. were talking pennies to dimes. Im going to look more heck maybe I can get a v4 cheap enough and not screw with it. But that engine with some guts swingarm and some rims would put ne in my happy place. I have to look more into it. I may have an infamous cct but have not had the time so who knows...

Why bother with a grotty secondhand SP engine of unknown provenance (track day thrashed..) - better to get a brand spanking new un

You'll need a Honda special tool to fit it in the VTR1000F's frame... http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Holmatro-RA33 ... xyUrZS3jyF

or this will fit

You reckon the VFR1200 engine will fit. 8O Now that would be super cool. Those SP engines are cheap. I wouldn't mind having one of them on the stand as a showpiece.

That would be the cats meow. I am all about hopping bigger and newer engines into older bodies.
Sadly I have not seen a vfr 1200 engine. Anything can fit with " Tender love" and a sabersaw ...tigwelder, sandpaper , grinder, odd bolts and most importantly trial and error.

I may be putting off this escapade as I may focus on a diet. Just did the oil. some castrol gtx a special asian type. Never seen before but specs did good in all test even better than motul and honda oil. I am worried however about the 929 filter they sent me. it seems ok but it was a wee bit smaller. I change oil every 3000km. good golden oil down the drain.

I found carbon fiber so cheap I could use it like fiberglass. it comes all wadded up but the sheets are good. So after I make a fiberglass tank mold. you can guess what stupid thing I might do.

Also found a cheap morwoki set for 17000 JPY drop two zeros. Its missing a silence but I can get a straight pipe welded in there. Anyone dyno that?
I know on superhawk forum someone got 3bhp more doing what I did or was that here Lloydie. The person got 3Bhp with that and a one sided slipon.
I may just live with jetted carbs and that ti set for the year as this engine is indeed ok. had four mechanics have a listen. They said it was the smoothest vtr they have seen!!! I asked about the carb seeming unbalanced. my japanese aint too good but they said leave it where it is. Either way I will be purchasing a microsquirt or making my own efI board.

Now I understand you. A 1200cc engine in what we have now would be awesome. Shame Honda's VFR1200's are so bloody ugly and expensive.

I am mean but I honestly hope someone blows coolant out or burns a hole through a piston. Id love to pick one up and goodie it.
This weekend if rain holds off I shall go to the only bike bone yard in town. :) maybe some pm rims or light bits. I love my vtr.
Im going to start a new thread asking a weirder question. :Beer Popcorn:
