well. back in the mancave, put the rec from from the yellow one on it. changed the battery and ,still the same  . so changed it all back over and, its fine now? fugure that. maybe plugging and unplugging everything has cleaned a contact or soumething but, clocks now fine.

@Stephen.Al . iv put new choke nuts on the carbs as one of mine was broken, choke seems to working fine. you can hear them moving when you pull the choke.

still wild rich. standard mains,45 pilots. two sets of plugs black and sooty ,pilots now just over one trun out both cylinders. its revving ok. just a lumpy tickover ,at times and a good handfull of throttle gets a nice puff of black petrol smelling smoke.....but as i said it revs fine but have to weaken it more??

Seems like you had some fault in contacts, would be good to clean it.

Is the choke fully closed in off position after installation of new nut?

My thoughts exactly the only other couple of things ref the mixture is one or both of the air holes are blocked. A good soak in some carb cleaner or ultra sonic bath might sort them out.
Was it okay before the choke nut broke? if it was I'd spend more time having another look at that.
My new ride is a bit of a Howler and I love to make her Squeal

iv cleaned them so many times i just cant find anymore dirt.. to start with the bike was weak. popping and banging on the rear. i found blocked jets then thats when the choke nut broke. im still thinking the chokes are the problem as its the only thing iv changed really. i had them apart 3 times yesterday and all seems to be working but.im gona take the chokes of and block the inlets of and see if it runs smoother without them.

got a feeling this is gona fight me all the way with silly we things. on the plus side the engine itself sounds good with no noises so thats a plus..

so, again carbs apart chokes apart and re-routed cable again. seems better because now when its warm and i pull the choke on it stalls. result.

now.next on the list, after warming it up i feels the water pipes. all the pipes leading from the pump are warm but no other pipes including both rads. checks the water and its full but, a tad oily. infact very oily :whatever . not sure how that would stop the rads getting warm or other pipes but, oil in the water but thankfully not the other way round and a lot of ham fisted self sealer round the pump so rebuid time i guess..
impeller seems fine and is wizzing round..

god this is gona be a long winter lol it better be worth it

well the thermostat was a bit rusty and in a glass of boiling water nothing happened. no movement at all. mind you iv no idea how its wasnt well oiled :eek2 . there must have been a half a litre of bloody oil in the water system..pump seals had been worked at and god knows how it was put back together, the seals looked more than a little ruff.. so ordered a set of seals... when i took it apart the small seal on its own? the open side was facing into the engine.i would have thought as its the oil seal it should be the other way round?

the haynes manual shows you sh1t all.

Sounds electrical to me.

Either water inside the plug for those clocks or you may have a wire thats rubbed through tranferring the signal to the other clock making them both do the same thing?

Hate trying to source issues like this but check usual spots where the loom gets caught
