Re: Reculator/Rectifier
Hello.
I have this SH693H regulator in my VTR. Not sure if is a modern one or not, I don´t find information on the web .. seems to work well, but.. I have a spare new in box mosfet FH020, should I change it?
Thanks

Re: Reculator/Rectifier
The SH693-12 will be better than original unfinned early R/R - though genuine Mosfet FH020* will be better still for reliability, but will need new connectors fitting

*Watch out for fake cheap Chinese FH misfit copies that they seem to be churning out after picking up on the demand for this type of quality R/R.

Yes, the FH020 that I own is a original shindengen unit, and no problem about the wiring.
Thanks for the reply

Re: Reculator/Rectifier
Hi all...i think my regulator has packed in today. Smoke from under the seat a strange smell and the battery looked like a football. It was really hot as well.
Re: Reculator/Rectifier
Yep, RR failure and trashed battery.
Time for an upgrade!

Re: Reculator/Rectifier
Hi..i have seen the link to the fella that does the full rewiring kit and regulator from the States. Is there anybody in the uk that does the same or similar kit. Cheers
Re: Reculator/Rectifier
Hi there...i have seen a mosfet RR on ebay for 50 quid...genuine BMW one. Its a 012 not a 020 is this any good for a VTR...Cheers
Re: Reculator/Rectifier
Yes...
But check you loom hasnt suffered any burning...
You can with a small flatblade & a lot of patience unpick the std block & just use the std connectors to conect it...Yellow wires can go any order but make a note which way the red & green fit & do the same on the new R/R...IIRC Red is left, Green is right...

But if the std block is showing any signs of burning then the wires could also be burnt so check them & if burnt cut out the damaged section & replace with suitable grade wire... Worse case is you will require a new loom...Also might be worth checking the Staor windings...
Sorry to say but if it's done that to the battery there could well be more damage...Hopefully I'm wrong...

This one I unpicked the block & used the origonal crimps...I have since added heat shrink to give it a bit of protection...
