Blimey, how long you got. Basically a football superstar from the sixties, some said the 5th Beatle. (They're a british band from the same era who............... anyway). He did a lotta drinkin and shaggin (married a Miss World along the way) finally had a much publicised liver transplant a few years ago cause his was pickled and promptly decided he wanted to pickle that one too. Got divorced from wife, carried on shaggin and drinkin till it all caught up with him and he died on Friday from an infection I think, which was a result of low immune system due to the anti-rejection drugs he was on.

Lovely! Sounds like not all Georges who like to drink & bonk as much as possible get to live to an age to rival George Burns, eh? Can't say I'm sorry I missed his life...

Tony, mate I'm starting to get an angle on your humour and I like it
and as far as giving up Booze and women. Well, I gotta say booze comes in a very convenient bottle or glass and loves me to drink it so I guess I can't give that up, expecially not on purpose, even for 20 minutes. 8)
As for women, well I had to give them all up to settle for just one. So I guess I have given them up :D

What pissed me off was reading about a sportsman who reached the top of his profession and who, after a long struggle against illness, passed away far too young. Where were the headlines?

Former World Rally Champion Richard Burns passed away on Friday evening after a long illness, aged 34.

Burns became the first Englishman to lift the WRC crown when he triumphed for Subaru in 2001.

He was in contention for the 2003 title when he passed out at the wheel of his road car en route to the season finale in Britain. He was diagnosed with an astrocytoma – a virulent brain tumour – and never competed again.

Burns’ family paid tribute to him in a statement, saying: “From the outset, Richard knew that the odds were heavily against him and yet he fought his illness with bravery and good humour.

“Having undergone both chemotherapy and radiotherapy he was able to leave hospital in summer 2004. For a while his health showed signs of improvement but then after six months it once again began to decline.

“Determined not to give up, he opted for surgery earlier this year. “This alleviated some of the symptoms of his illness and enabled him to remain active.

“At Castle Combe in August he attended a parade of the rally cars that he drove throughout his career and was touched by the warmth of the reception he received.

“However there was to be no miracle and in recent days he lapsed into a coma.”

How sad :!: :!: I'm shocked to hear that Simon :!: I did know he'd had to give up racing through illness, for the time being anyway. I used to have more interest in rallying back when he was racing probably because a mate of mine and myself were building a rally car to go rallying ourselves but circumstances changed and it never happened although we did build the car :!:
Getting back to what you were saying about no News Headlines, thats typical that is :!:
So a Thankyou to you for posting it :!:
