Was inspired and curious following various pictures Zero kindly posted. Judging from some of the replies, some of you are sick puppies who get a kick out of surgeries and wounds and stuff :) (probably me at the front of the queue...)

So, I managed to find on the wonderful interweb colour pictures of my main op. It's not actually me, this is some guy with a human head... though it is exactly the same op I had - a warning to the squeamish...

(just so you know, this is for edutainment and to show you what they do when you gracefully part company with your bike and land on your face.)

CLICKY

Anyone else got any cool ones? I know there's a mean looking external fixator in the gallery. Let's all help Zero feel better and maybe help some folks lose their lunch.

[quote="Stormin Ben"]Marty,
Good to hear you are on the mend.
At least you'll have a decent story to tell the kids.
There's no way I'm telling anyone how I broke my collarbone

Alan,
OK, so who spent their entire time in biology at school sat at the back sniggering at the rude pictures?

Clavicle = collar bone
Scapula = shoulder blade

Cervical vertebra = neck bones

PS it was playing kiss chase :oops:[/quote

Brilliant Kitch! I've been in a heck of a lot of theatre cases to date. The best one has been a neck disection. They basically peel the skin away from half the face, have a play & stick it back down again. Really is amazing what they can do.

Actually, I take that back. If autopsies count, that's the best I've assisted with. Completely surreal to see what's in the whole body. I've only done one, and of course, the lovely people who arranged for me to be there, waited for a nice motorcycle accident victim thinking it'd turn me off. All it achieved was to remind me of a fascinating experience every time I ride past the crash site.

Oh, and if any of you lose your loved ones unexpectedly and the body is important to you, do everything you can to stop them performing an autopsy.
