carbon bloody fibre !!! for the last few days I’ve been trying to restore a carbon front mud guard I decided to clear coat it, but it's been a proper pain, first off I got it all flatted off, shot a coat of clear on it and suddenly there's pin prick type holes all over the clear bugger, so I bake it flat it and try again and exactly the same happens again :confused . There's no contamination these aren't 'fish eye' imperfections ir's something else, anyway while flatting it off AGAIN I notice how thin the carbon is, if I hold it up to the light there are spots of light visible all over it so now i'm thinking the problem is been caused by the holes making it porous and causing the pin prick imperfections. So the next coat of clear goes onto the inside of the mud guard which will hopefully seal the imperfections and stop the problem. So I shoot the next coat of hoping that it will be successful this time, well it definitely improved things but not completely I've still got some pin holes showing, so by now I'm well p**sed off with it so I just blast it with a sh1t load of clear, to the point it was dripping off the edges !!! And incredibly the result is the best finish yet still not really good enough but OK for now till I work out how to get a better finish.
I've now gone all European and bought a KTM Superduke GT and Aprilia RSV1000R :D ,

Put some tape on the inside and spray the outside.

the only thing that helped was clear coating the inside effectivelt sealing it, I think the only way to get it perfect would be to build up lots of clear and flat it back and repeat until the desired result is acheived although but at the moment it's passable and I've had enough of flatting clearcoat !!

I was hugely annoyed yesterday. I posted the quick version of this in my build thread but as many of you know I am building a VTR. I ordered my parts from the dealer I work for rather than going through the Internet because 1) I like to patronize my employer and 2) I thought it would be a bit cheaper. Yesterday I was ready to start building and I thought I would start with fitting the rods. I opened my parts bag and found I had one bearing shell half for the right rod and one bearing shell half for the left rod and one bearing shell that didn't go to anything. I was just dumb founded. I had given the parts guy a list (a spreadsheet) with actual part numbers descriptions and quantities. I guess he ignored the quantities listing. The bearings have to be ordered in pairs.

So I march into the house, fire up the computer and place a hasty order for rod bearings of the appropriate size from CheapCycleParts.com. I do this before I make a full inventory and realize i have only one of the four new rod bolts I need! This is fully my fault for not checking the whole order. Now I have to wait until tomorrow to place my rod bolt order because 1) I depleted the funds in my bank account and 2) It is a stupid bank holiday today so I can't make a cash deposit until then. To top it all off, I have to pay a second shipping charge because of my stupidity. I got in a hurry and now I am paying for it.

You can't blame yourself for somebody else not doing they job properly. They could at least look after their own. You shouldn't have to double check they done things correctly. You gave them the spreadsheet with part numbers....what else do they want. They where lucky to get that as that's half their job done. At least you can now spend the bank holiday with the wife. :biggrin

I don't get the pushbike pic. what am I missing. :confused or has it been stolen. Nice bike that as well.
