not today but yesterday I changed the oil / filter/ sump plug and fitted some refurbed oil lines I got off Jamoi,. (Hope he is well ? ).
Whilst threading the new pipes through and into position I noticed the fairing clip close to the left hand radiator had popped out and was doing nothing . I had a bag of spare clips so I popped it back together ( not exactly "popped" it took about 20 minutes and quite a bit of swearing ). I suppose because it's in an awkward place it may have been ignored for years?
Anyway about 2 weeks ago whilst banging along a dual carriageway ,for some reason I touched the body work near the choke and it was vibrating and buzzing like one of them rabbit things ?? well now it is a lot less buzzy and after 30 miles scratching about my fingers weren't numb. Just shows something simple like that might be spoiling your ride ....

I've done nothing to mine, but I keep unearthing more bodges with my friends bike, the 2 previous owners have made a right mess of things, I've traced the indicator issue to some iffy wiring into the relay, the guy hadn't even used spade connectors or solder, he just poked the wire through a hole and twisted it sort of tight, and then put a tiny amount of insulating tape on it. I really hate the nasty aftermarket indi's on the bike, and i'm trying to source some good condition early model items.
also the two lower mounting tabs on the rear fairing had long since gone, and as the PO used heavy throwover panniers, he rigged up a system where he cable tied shelf brackets to the rear subframe, bent the ends back and gaffa taped them, to cushion the rear fairing against the weight. he also gaffa taped the underside of the fairing where it met the undertray, because of the broken tabs...........
so far I think I've cut off in excess of 20+ cable ties.
underneath all of the crap is a really nice bike, upgraded handling, engine had been very mildly breathed on by roger.
it's just be neglected over the years, and then been poorly added too, with heated grips, aftermarket indi's and so on.
i'll get back to it in a mo, just trying to stay out of the 40 degree heat.........

pretty simple for me - after three years of quiet under a dust sheet in the garage I just checked the plugs, oil, fuel connections etc and turned it by hand a few times, tank with three year old fuel back on and the black beast roared once more at the fourth time of asking. I had a soiling of sorts as we reconnected after all this time

well I managed to get to the bottom of the indi situation, my mates bike has an aftermarket set of indi's, and because the bulbs are non std, the relay had been changed accordingly, said relay was junk, plus the wiring was terrible, so I've got a set of oem indi's in the pipeline, and I have a few spare std relays in London, so it'll be going back as Honda intended next month.
the PO'S have a lot to answer for on this bike......

Sorry Kev made it this time on the bike.
In fact it went peachy. this time we did the west side down to St mala and Dinard etc, bloody wonderful and £39 each way on the boat. lovely Hotel Sat night too, drinking Grey goose and Pimms on the balcony.
Planning a biggie for sept.
