Just been out and taken my generator cover off. It was not tight tight and came off with no bother. Hoping to do CCT's this weekend, weather permitting.

1) 3 days before attempting to do the mod, make sure that the cover caps come off the genny cover - if they don't, this should give you sufficient time to order and receive new from DS (Unless you are one of the lucky ones - Snoogle/cybercarl - and they came off with no bother)

They all come off with no bother.





Hit them with a hammer and ground to a wedge centrepunch- no bother at all.
Bit of damage, to be fair, but they do come off ok.....

Well my £3.50 fleabay Yamaha R/R arrived in the post... It's got 6 pins... D'oh.

The multimeter seems to show the three phases along the bottom, and the +ve and ground on each end of the top row... Which just leave the mysterious 6th pin in the middle of the top row...

The regulator is labelled SH678-11, and looks just like the one in this thread on the CBR forum. http://cbrforum.com/forum/cbr-900rr-19/ ... ing-98523/
His wiring matches what my multimeter indicates too... Even then '06 R6 wiring diagram I found (the fleabay listing said 06-07 R6) matches up with my meter and that photo... Nothing seems to use the mystery pin.

Guess I could always try it with some thin-ish wires so if anything is wrong they'll act as fuses.

I might be wrong, but I think with the 6pinn RR you just ignore the extra pin and wire as a 5 pin. Like I said I might be wrong (not 100% sure) but I seem to re call someone telling me that.

Don't forget you will need a longer bolt to attach the Earth as the Yami RR's are deeper. I ended up borrowing one of my front tank bolts as I did not have one at the time.

Plenty of nuts and bolts in the garage - I've taken many things apart over the years, so have "acquired" many many spares

If it gets half as warm as the original unit I'm tempted to mount it under the seat... Heated grips? Pah! I'll have a elbow warmer!

Unfortunately I don't think a MOSFET regulator is going to turn up like that, so it's back to the old fashioned subframe warmer version... Unless I fancy building a MOSFET regulator... Hmmm...

Ohh FFS! No! Not going there! I'm trying to get this bike back on the road! At the moment, the longer it rains the bigger pile of parts and the less bike I have in the garage!

Same as mine Dude, Tony fitted it as I am hopeless with eletrickery, dont connect the top middle spade, works fine, no probs in two + years.
