Temporary repair of a hole in the exhaust with Gun Gum tape. Hope it holds for the last two track days before I can sort it out properly.

Just took it for a dusk ride. Only 40 miles but it blew the cobwebs away. Oil. Suspension, tyres all good. Adjusted the lights. Using relays makes such a difference.

Posted this in my build thread, but no responses yet...

So going back to my post in July 2015;

I measured the diaphragm springs after reading that DJ use a much shorter spring. The springs in the carbs are give or take 300mm (12"), the brand new units from Honda are 270mm (10 3/4ish").

I have taken delivery of a US spec DJ kit - 1185.002, and the springs are 137mm long;



Is this correct??? I expect the kit to be correct, but such a difference to my above mentioned spring lengths, that seems like a hell of a lot. Are the non-US spec any different?

Also, the steel rod type tool in the photo which as a small dent in the top - can I guess that is the DT009 mixture screw tool? (not req'd as I have some very nice Jack Flash upgrades!)

I have started the CCT change this afternoon. I have changed the rear one, and learned how to do it thanks to the good access of the rear cylinder, tomorrow the front one.. Not too much room to do it !
Valve clearance were ok in the rear cylinder. Let´s see tomorrow.

Sometimes it's easier to drain the coolant and remove the LH side radiator- it's not much extra work, you can reuse the coolant, and access is so much easier.
You can do it without taking the rad off, but it's fiddly.

Work finished and tested. Working fine.
You are wright.. I have changed the front one without removing carburetor or radiator, hard work actually..

difficult to see the correct alignment of the cams, and installing the top screws of the cover. Anyway, finished and working fine.

Thank you, Yessss, I have made 4000 km in this 5 months, and since I knew about the cct problem in the forums, I has been always thinking that the engine were going to explode.. pace of mind now.
I noticed that the automatic cct keep the chain in the tense side, ( maybe 2 or 3 mm of flexing in both cylinders), with the mcct i have set them to about 5 or 6 mm as specified for the tutorial in this forum. The engine sounds nicer now imo.

& 633 got a wash from the soaking it got when Alan dropped it off...To be fair I was in a sling when he delivered it...
