Re: what have you done to your "bike" today
So I balanced the carbs last night...and had a fiddle with the mixture screws - Thats about as much fun as fitting the springs back in the carbs!!
First time I've run this bike with the TPS connected & I must say it seemed much more responsive & smoother.
Balancing was way off initially.
When I adjusted the mixture screws, I didnt seem to get any affect so I rang my mate who knows far too much and he suggested turning the tickover down as low as possible but with it still smooth. At 900rpm I did manage to get a response with an rpm rise as I turned them in.
The tool I bought was still too big in all honestly so I didn't bother trying to figure out how many turns in/out the final setting was on!
I don't know what difference the carb clean has made, the new plugs or the TPS connection has made but on the paddock stand she certainly seems smoother. Dropping from high revs to tickover the tacho doesnt jhang anywhere and returns to idle without dropping low so in my very very little carb experience, I'm happy!
I shall see what it's like Sunday.

Re: what have you done to your "bike" today
Sounds like you have done well. The mixture setting has to be one of most awkward and hardest things to do on these bikes. Especially the rear with the carb coolant hose in the way and things get hot rather quickly too. In fact the bike should be ridden and brought up to temp in an ideal world before adjusting. I like to strap a torch to the bar of my screwdriver so it helps to see. Your mate is right with getting the revs down. Get them down as low as poss without cutting out. Both the TPS and mixture affect the balance especially the TPS as it's directly linked. It also affects the adjustment of them too so I like to do a sync first and last and then double check.

By sync-I assume you mean balance? If so, that’s what I did

Re: what have you done to your "bike" today
Moved 5 of them to get proper access to the bench & rebuilt a shock linkage...FB bod bought it...
Making up since 2007, sometimes it's true...Honest...
Re: what have you done to your "bike" today
Looked at it again for another day
Re: what have you done to your "bike" today
Had a purpose built bracket and plate for the standard clocks fabricated by my neighbor, and I’m very pleased with the result

Welded up the back of the crack in the fairing and then put a sticker over the surface damage.... shocking

Front tyre was on the wear limiters on the right hand side, so new Michelin PR5 fitted. Let’s see how much better they are than the old PR2s
