fitted my freshly painted lowers today, the painter has done a great job again......adjusted my bar riser that moved slightly when i dropped the bike.
then went for a blast with lee and carl
we did roughly 130 miles, and ended up having a milkshake in a maccy d's in a retail park just off the A1M north of baldock, not far from kev country.....
i wobbled a fair bit but i got better and more confident the longer the ride went on, it was very enjoyable, not much sunshine and plenty of grey clouds but it stayed dry which was the main thing.....
i look forward to the next time....

reset my tps, was 890 now its 450, nearest I could get it without some major hammering, took it for a blast quite a difference especially midrange, and seems to have lost the lag it had when fully opening the throttle, pulls all the way from 2k in top. made my mind up about the 1 side exhaust and started that. got myself a WileyCo can of e-bay for a cbr900rr-60mm bore- that should deal with 2 big bangs I think. No piccy's sorry, dropped my I-phone down the crapper  after doing a crapper  will see if my daughter can take some with another fruit based electronic product...

That's a bit crap.

All I done to the bike today was thrash the wombles out of her. Shall do some more tinkering tomorrow, may strip the carbs I took off the bike.

Started Friday stripping all the fairing off, and exhausts and just about anything that could come off and washed and cleaned the crap out of it today, changed a load of stuff to stainless steel bolts.

My mate wouldnt let me leave the damned bolt on I was gonna save for Tony and done it with a dremel and screwdriver.

The bike looks CLEAN, but for how long.

Also tried the cans again today dremelled some holes in the undertray so the we could get hangers through, still no luck, tried the set that got sent to me, still no luck, im gonna have to go and see a metal fabricater and get them shortened and redrillled.

Went for a blatt with Carl and BSM up to Baldock. First ride with the MRA screen, and I have to report that all is well at 100-110.....

MPH or KPH ? Now I know one of them would be very illegal, but I just cant for the life of me remember which part of my speedo I was reading.

So that's two tanks of fuel for Carl, and just over one for you and lee then

Who needs a fuel gauge or light with Carl always looking for the next petrol station!

I tested out the R6 R/R, it seems to be okay. Warms up pretty quick, but cools down very quickly too. That's heatsinks for you :)

I think I've found a location for the R/R, but I don't think I have a hope of getting a bolt through, so at the moment it's cable ties... I guess I can save perfection for over the winter :biggrin

As the bike was nice and warm from the R/R test I changed the oil and filter.

Image
Behold, my new wet-sump design :biggrin I believe in getting my money's worth from a can of oil!
Yes, I've written my name on the oil can... My brother has a habit of turning up and believing he must have left oil, chain lube etc here for some reason, and then it vanishes!

Took the bike up and down the road to test the hydraulics. Rear brake is lethal! Front feels fine, and the clutch bleed seems to have smoothed out the gear change, or maybe it was the new oil. Who knows! All I know is it doesn't go *clunk* into 2nd anymore :biggrin

Now I just have to tidy up that alarm wiring spaghetti.

MOT next week me thinks :biggrin

I was just getting the last out of the can whilst I had a cuppa... Cheeky sod! :p

Anyway... The day has finally come... After 5 years of sitting in the back of the garage (and a couple of months sitting outside getting rained on), my couple of months of not enough free time has finally produced what I think is a road legal bike!

To be honest all she really needed was some air in the tyres, a new battery and maybe the brakes bled, but I got carried away and changed the regulator, installed an alarm, and took lots of bits off just so I could give her a good dusting.

Image

So there you have it, an almost completely standard 2002 plated FY model VTR1000F in insect attracting, resplendent (and damn expensive) candy pearlescent yellow :biggrin

Non standard bit disclaimer - Front wheel from a Blackbird after slight redesign of original wheel shape (dat is why dis is black) - R6 Rectifier/Regulator. See avatar for fate of original front wheel (unless I've changed the avatar by the time you read this!).

Now I've just gotta wait for the garage to open tomorrow morning so I can book her in for a nasty man to poke about her most private bits... And find that damn V5 so I can get tax!

And hide the keys... All I can hear is 50cc 2 stroke mosquitoes going round the estate and I wanna go scare 'em off.... Grrrr!
