Actually I've just realised I haven't ridden any distance on a bike in 5 years either!

Good luck with that MOT buddy. I'm sure it will be fine and if it does fail on anything it will be something silly.

Today I decided to strip the original carbs down that I took off the other day. Everything looked nice and clean compared to the other set. Jets and needles all look round and no scratches or wear. Checked the shape of emulsion tube and it's round. Gave them all a blast of carb clean.
Decided to take the diaphrams apart, what fun and games I had getting those springs back in. I was very careful not to pinch the diaphram when re fitting.

Does anyone know an easy technique for re installing the springs :?: I sprung it back down into the cover and holding with finger/nail and overlayed as close to the diaphram hole as poss, then released it so it sprung back in to the other diaphram end. I used my fingers and a bit of a wiggle, to fit edge of diaphram into it's sealing/gasket slot round the cover and then screwed back on. It took me a few attempts but got there in the end.

I then set my mixture screw to 2 turns out. I shall fit soon and see how she runs and what the fuel consumption is like. I'm also going to reset the TPS, not sure to what yet, may have to mod/extend the security torx bolt hole tps slot at the same time.

JET SIZES
Front Carb
Main Jet = 178
Slow jet = 48S (not sure what the S is all about, unless it's slow)

Rear Carb
Main Jet = 175
Slow Jet =48S

So all standard as far as I'm aware.

I feel a Titanium Projet kit calling my name. :biggrin

i would have thought it should have had bigger main at the back as opposed to the front to help cool the rear head if one side was to have a bigger jet

Intersesting....I wonder if someone re fitted them the wrong way round in the past. I noticed one of the float chamber covers the screws were not as tight/almost loose. I done one carb at a time!

The more I think about it, the more I want to put a Projet kit in. Just got to wait for funds to replenish. So at the mo I'm just tinkering around with what I got and learning my way around things.

[edit] Just checked workshop manual and your right. I shall swap them around tomorrow.[/edit]

good luck with the mot mate, i reckon you'll sail thru....
i went for a ride to my mates in upminster today, whilst there i had a ride of his 600 hornet, its a 2998 with 3000miles on the clock, he doesn't get a chance to use it much. what a comfy bike, i almost regretted buying my storm after riding his, it ain't got much power or character mind you, but it was so relaxing to ride, a perfect commuter bike, maybe one day in the distant future i'd consider a more sit up and beg style bike.
i almost run out of fuel, because my fuel warning light isn't working, i filled up with 15 ltrs :eek2
1 ltr away from running out.........£19.90.........ffs i've done a couple of hundred miles in the last 2 days and i've put in roughly £50!!!!
in fairness i was having fun at not so legal speeds.
i've still got a problem with the wiring, i used the horn and blew another fuse, so investigating needs to go on there me thinks.
and finally i wasn't paying attention and got flashed by a speed camera in the limehouse link tunnel....doh!!!!!!!
lets see what i get thru the post
my storm always puts a smile on my face tho...........
