today i have fitted some new carbon effect mirrors so i can finally see behind me, didn't go for the R1 mirrors as the guy recomended FZ1 mirrors and they fit a treat and are about 20mm longer than R1's, little bit of messing about adding a washer on the rear bolt but i think the result is good and for £25 a pair inc p&p i cant complain and i get clear vision behind now instead of seeing my elbows.

Finally got to go out today for a quick test of my new seat, mirror extentions and new boots.
Seat very comfy .... mirrors great ..... boots need some more work

today i took the rims down to metal ready for respray, sorted a few blemishes on the new paintjob, counting down now....

then set to work on my rev n rip...

stripped off the rest of the bodywork, welded up a few cracked panels and just finished fixing one with a piece missing... welded a piece in off another broken abs panel then prepped them all for spraying.


had a nasty surprise when i looked at the forks though




got a spare set off my donor bike and cleaned them up, resprayed the legs in satin black enamel, good seals, no pitting... bargain.


not much left of the donor bike now lol.... it'll be just a frame & yokes by next week

still a load of parts i want off it yet - lh switchgear, battery, rear shock, rear wheel, lock set, engine for spares, engine ducting, rear reflectors, brake lines, master cylinder, front disc, clutch & brake levers for spare...
well worth it for a tenner lol

I have replaced the short airbox funnel with another long one, and returned to an OE air filter.
Will/does it make any noticeable difference? Who knows?
Any one else done the 2 long funnels?

thanks for doing the clutch and brake bleed at the workshop day they feel tons better, and a big thanks for teaching leonie how to change the brakes and bleed them (i'll have to keep an eye on her when she stays at mine now), you did the sp1 conversion on tonys how easy is it for a non mechanic to do that himself and do the sp1 levers fit the storm without changing everything,

you will find 2 short stacks is better up top bud, moves the torque further up the rev range and crouton me does it howl when you're riding it hard!
2 longer ones will make it more tractable low - mid rpm.

i got a spare set off ebay for a fiver, then another set when i bought a spare airbox to chop up.
had a play with various different combos and decided the 2 short stacks suited my cams best as they tend to make the bike want to live up top, around the redline to limiter

I seem to remember getting some dyno comparisons done on this a while back.
I'll see if I can dig the traces out.

I felt a bit of difference, stronger lower down but at the expense of a HP or two at the top end.
Dyno readout backed this up.
Currently running a standard airbox and intakes for comparison dyno runs on pistons and cams, but once that's finished I'll be going back to two longs.

Had a full service and MOT (passed) today. New rear pads. Full calliper service. But he didn't do the CCTs though. Pfft!!

Fitted these today. Spare pair of rear footrest hangers with a bit of tidying up as I don't need the exhaust mounts.
Probably been done before (nothing new under the sun!) but I think it looks a bit better -
