if you get to mine just before 9am, I will have bacon rolls cooked and ready with a hot beverage, then we can leave just after 9.30am, meet Tony on the way on the M25 or meet him at Aust.
Pack a bacon roll for me wrap it in foil then place it in the V, I'll collect it when you get to Aust

Yeah if that's fine with you  I'm not the fastest rider in the world so as long as you don't think I'll hold you up
Nah it's OK. The missus isn't the fastest pillion and I don't think I'm overly quick anyway. Some people may disagree but that's after I'v paid them a vast amount of money to lie

PMSL. True dat. I'm swapping tyres over on the the DRZ so I can get back out in the slippy stuff. I obviously need more practice.

This meet will not be the same without him. Martin made an effort to turn up to every one of them. He made such a great impression when I first met him. We became distant friends and it was always good to catch on the phone and in person. He has left a hole :sad2

I'm sure there will be an official memorial ride, but this will be my memorial ride for such an amazing person.

I will vote for that Geo...........was wales op storm1 when I first met him, and it will be fitting to say goodbye there as well.

just looking at the photos of that trip and there is the one of him passed out in his tent.........it makes me smile and for a moment i forget the sad truth that we wont see him again.

I have not been to a Storm trip in Wales yet, only one I have done with Benny was the Derby one where we stopped at that pub. Think it was 2011. I was really looking forward to this Wales trip partly because I knew Benny was going and I hadn't met up with him yet this year. Such a shame. I'm sure this ride will feel empty now knowing he should have been there. We should organise some T-shirts to go over the leathers in his memory.

I remember that run...........you had sarah on the back and I had my younger daughter on the back...........she still talks about Benny and she only met him once!

I was thinking about T-shirts as well

Yeah, I hadn't had the Storm long then.

I remember the Friday night, Benny came round my house in Huddersfield and brought the rain with him. We put on our waterproofs and set off down the M1 together. The visibility was awful, and I have never been as wet and uncomfortable. It stopped raining just before we arrived and then we had excellent weather for the ride out next day. Benny had the smallest tent in the world, without soundproofing, because he snored like a beast!!

I seem to remember your daughter was there as a punishment for something or other wasn't she? Your wife was away and you didn't want to leave her on her own....lol I wish my parents had punished me by taking me on camping trips on the back of a bike.

I am sure when this all really sinks in, we can come to some agreement about the Wales ride, but it would be nice to do it with him in mind.

well remembered, she was grounded for sneaking off to London and going clubbing in Birmingham when we thought she was in her room at night............at 14!!!

you can imagine how amusing Martin was to a rebellious teenager.......he just told her to enjoy life and Feck the rules and rulemakers then offered her a roll-up......hence why she still remembers him. if there is a ride of rememberence she has said she would like to come as well

Your daughter had a better social life at 14 than I have now, at almost 19. Oh dear.

Sounds like I've really missed out on not having met Martin, sounds like such a good guy. Even more so than his own posts would have had you believe

What about dedicating this wales ride our in remembrance for him, most of us newbies of the time met him for the first time at this very meeting point.

There will be a large number of us going so will make it a special run, especially if we all ride out in bunny suits.

I have updated the first post. This will be a memorial ride for those that met him on the 1st op storm wales and anyone else that wants to join us. I will try and get to the official memorial run if/when it's arranged but funds are tight enough for me at the moment. I have left Martin's name in the list of attendees as he will be there in spirit.
