Regardless of which way the vote goes, although the best effect will come from a very close remain win, the single thing I take most hope from this referendum is that lots of politicians are shitting themselves.
That's because us, Joe public, have spoken very very loudly about how we expect our elected representatives to work on our behalf.
That's a good thing I my view as for most of my voting life I've felt a general apathy has existed towards politics and politicians. That has to change otherwise we're in some sort of pathetic dictatorship by proxy and politicians will think they can do whatever they like.

I find it interesting that both of our countries are in a type of bloodless (so far) revolution. If I read it correctly the Brexit vote is a vote against the establishment, their vision and their control. I guess it is a referendum on whether or not to allow other non-citizens to decide the fate of the UK.
In this country you have Donald Trump. I am sure that you are getting a healthy dose of the establishment news narratives that he is a bigot, a loose canon and that he hates Muslims, Mexican immigrants and women. Yes he has a big mouth and he speaks off the cuff but he scares the hell everyone in power because he is not beholden to any of them. The officials in his own party hate him because he represents a change in their power structure and there fortunes. He is our vote against the establishment. You have to look at Trump as the middle finger, presented by the people, to the establishment in Washington.
Over here we have, two choices for president, a known criminal with a history of selling access and skirting the law and a reality TV star that has built a chain of successful hotels and casinos. In a country this size you would think we could do better?
I always though that we should have a computer make up a data list of qualified applicants and then one would be chose by lottery. My feeling is that anyone who wants to be president should be immediately disqualified as unfit for actually desiring the job.

Hooooooray we can have bent Bannana's now, I thought there was something a bit queer about it.
As for the Scott's Lloydie they will always be our friends as we have a connection there....literally, but I don't think they should be allowed to vote on English matters in the same way I don't believe the English should be allowed to vote on Scottish matters. Each should keep their own national identities even currency if they want. The same goes for Wales, I wont mention NI as it might start a war
I got a bit worried when it came to the Costa Del Sol having yet to vote as it was touch and go there for a while. IMO any UK citizen that leaves the country should loose their right to vote as they no longer live here. They shouldn't be able to claim benefits either. If someone leaves on a permanent basis your no longer part of this country.
Well...... this has put some faith back into the voting system for me. Next to get rid rid of the current government. Mac for El' Presedente and Big Jim for vice presedente. But you will have to emigrate here first Jim

We'll give you a job.
[edit]
Cameron has taken his money and run then. Things could get interesting now.

Well, this is just the start of it now I suppose.
Banks are already talking about mitigation plans, stocks are plummeting which means banks are going to panic again, pension funds are going nuts, and watch your mortgage rate go sky high.
it will come back to talking about bikes, as folks will start to struggle cash wise and therefore luxuries like bikes will be getting sold. Mac you had better get a bigger garage to house them all.
Carl, total agree on your point about Scots voting on England only votes. nonsense. Even if they didn't change the system they should have the bottle to at least spoil their vote.
Going on this vote, is Borris going to be the next PM? the thought of him and Trump being in power is crazy. Spitting Image would have had a field day with that one.
As I work for a European company, time to go get the CV polished up again...

Yes the press, they do cause a lot of hysteria.
The power they have over us is great and should not be abused the way it is.
I cannot understand the panic, did no one believe this could happen?
Did Europe just laugh it off as a none event believing we would never dare leave?
I think the main reason we voted as we did was due to unelected officials in Brussels laying down laws.
Brits do like to be able to discuss things first I think.
The Eurocrats have been given two fingers, and I can't say I don't think they deserve it.
It's been a crock of sh1t from start to finish and the lot of these fooking politicians should ashamed of themselves.

I see David Cameron just resigned;
Prime Minister David Cameron is to step down by October after the UK voted to leave the European Union
Geez, some people take it a bit hard.
