Same................but Panniers now packed and fitted, just the tail pack & tank bag to pack tonight then off at 7am tomorrow

Then:
7.05- stop to pick up underwear from hard shoulder, repack properly, and use bungees this time.

7.17- fill up with fuel.....

I remember my brother had such a terrible, bike crushing, experience thanks to the steam packet, that the next year he bought an old sherpa van and put his bike in the back. Him and 3 mates took it in turns to drive the van and ride the other 3 bikes. Then for the ferry they just loaded all the bikes into the van and secured them properly via the loops he had welded specifically for the job.

IIRC they even slept in the van on the first night.

Last time I went they pumped all your fuel out into a drum, and kept it! No compensation.
First time I went no-one told me- I'd filled up just down the road....

I'm sure the bloke who wrote that rule owned the first garage out of the ferry terminal.

Don't suppose they're still there, but the tramlines I posted about actually existed, and coming off a wet slipway onto wet tramlines caught out a fair few gassing it off the ramp.

And due to the tide they had to crane three bikes at a time off using a little gantry on a crane.
The boat was too low to ride up the ramp.

So you ride forward, with two other bikes, and park them. They hook them onto the gantry, and then hoist.
If you've parked them too far apart the middle one gets caught in a bike version of conkers as they outside ones swing in towards the centre.
You couldn't make it up.

today i fitted a gorgeous carbon hugger to my sp2, and ebc hh pds all round, and a 12v socket under the rear seat pod.
picking up a afam hd x ring chain & sprocket set tomorrow, with 16/41 (1 on the rear) & a 15t to play with
hrc throttle tube on the way off a fb owner

also picked up some crackin k2/3 interact scrubs with lots of tread.... 1/2hr after i'd just bought a brand new set of 120/190 dunlop sportmax lol

oh and a 2 piece rst suit looks very smart indeed tother one had shrunk a bit in the middle so got the next size up

Had a lovely ride into work this morning.

I think I'm settling back into this riding lark after 5 years away quicker than I thought. Certainly feeling more comfortable and confident, and the trip to and from work is getting shorter and shorter - Despite me supposedly testing fuel consumption with sensible riding this week - ooops.

Complete lack of traffic on the straight (with occasional sweeping bends) "A" road for the last couple of miles to the office. I completely failed to find anyone to overtake, and I tried, honestly, I tried!

Must resist the urge to go for a zoom at lunchtime

i changed my standard bulbs for blue hid ones.

a nice thing was though my youngest boy charlie came out to the garage and held the torch and gave me a hand. couldn't see a thing without him holding it

The nice Postie delivered my Factory Pro Ti jet kit today, after I made a charitable donation of £23 to HM Customs & Excise (robbing gits!) and this despite the nice Septics marking it up as a "Gift". Anyway some you win (clip-ons worth £147 got through as a gift) and some you lose.
Now to clean up the carbs, make some carbon fibre brackets and fit the jet kit. Whoopee-do.
