There will be a large number of us going so will make it a special run, especially if we all ride out in bunny suits. :lol:
I think it's a brilliant idea of organising a memorial ride for Benny in Wales, he loved the Welsh roads and was just telling me 2 weeks ago how much he was looking forward to Op Storm in Wales..and yeah, a T shirt over leathers would be fitting...Keep me posted as me and Dave are defo going.. we are too far away from Warrington for any other ride..sadly..

How about we all go local pub fancy dress in his honour on the evening? He loved wearing the 'get ups' and would find it highly amusing.. Just a thought guys,unless we can pull off a load of T shirts to wear over jackets on the day?

Date: September 6th-8th 2013
Place: http://www.wyesidecamping.co.uk

B&Bs are also available but you'll need to book early.

Itinerary

Friday: Ride up (or across, or down) and meet at a camp site
Saturday: Official Ride out day - making lots of noise - Lunch at Bala
Sunday: Head home

"Why the same place?" I hear you cry....well
Campsite = Great
Food = Great
Beer = Great
Location = Great for the majority
Roads = Awesome variety and great quality
Scenery = Breathtaking

Having just completed the 3rd year of this get together, we know what we are gonna get :thumbup:

Change of date
I have moved it to later in the year but there is still no guarantee that we'll have good weather so be prepared for wet roads or face potential disappointment.

Timings
We will be heading out at 9am. Make sure you are all up fed/watered, fuelled up and ready to go.
Lunch will be between 12:00 and 13:00 in Bala - Meeting spot to be found
Head out of Bala for 14:00 to finish the rest of the ride

Progressive and Leisurely Groups
As it was a success at the Yorkshire meet we will be running two groups.

Group one - Progressive
Lead and tail: Shared between AMCQ46 and MJonesy
Join this group if you are a confident rider. You will be comfortable riding at the national speed limit when it is safe to do so. You ride to the conditions. The focus of this group is riding.

Proposed progressive route - http://goo.gl/maps/5gACc Al and Murray to agree the after lunch route.

Group two - Leisurely
Lead and tail: Shared between me and Flatty
This group is for riders that are more comfortable at a leisurely pace. You will still be happy to maintain the national speed limit when the need arises (to avoid holding up other traffic) but also like to look at the scenery. The focus of this group is to enjoy the roads whilst taking in the surroundings. It's also ideal if you have not been on one of these before and want to get an idea of what its all about.

Proposed leisurely route - http://goo.gl/maps/i3aej

We'll head out of Rhayader and do the northern section loop back to Rhayader. This will give anyone who wants or needs to, the chance to end their ride and kick back with a few beers etc.

Those that want to can then head out of Rhayader again and do the southern section loop to Brecon and back to Rhayder.

This will ensure that those who want to ride wales at a leisurely pace can choose how much of it they want. There will be absolutely no pressure in the leisurely group so, if this is stopping you from coming, don't let it :thumbup:

Note 1: Both groups will be doing the same route up to Bala (not necessarily together) where we will stop for lunch
Note 2: All this is subject to change depending of weather.

A mate of mine makes t-shirts. I think thats probably the most cost effective way. Lets wait for the logo/sticker and take it from there :thumbup:

Also I'm an idiot and have not said which group I'd go for! Kinda obvious but leisurely, please. National speed limit too fast, I just cruise down the motorway at 12,000rpm in fifth gear. 38mph if I'm lucky :p

Takes me ages to learn roads to the point where I feel I can ride it hard, I'm sticking to the slow group, who knows in a few years I may have upped the pace by opp storm Wales 10 and be leading....

I don't usually hang about, but I figured as this will be the first time I've joined an Op Storm, for me it's more about getting out on the bike, having a laugh with some (seemingly loony!) fellow riders and taking in the scenery.

As you're not camping, you could always go back to a particular road on the Sunday morning and have a good blast at your own pace.

Can't wait for this!

that's what me George and scotman did early Sunday morning, jumped on the bikes and did some riding through the Elan valley, got my bike stuck in a quarry and had a bloody good laugh.

note to self, firestorms cannot go where BMW GS's can go. :lol:

some people do come 2 up so if she is up for the banter then bring her along.

and dont worry, the fast group is not a bunch of track day nutters [I will lead some of it!!!!!] its just we do less stopping and more riding. in prevuous years we have all been in 1group and with the marker system you ride at the pace you want and nobody gets lost

If you haven't been on one of these before, and in light of past events, I would recommend starting it the Leisurely group. :thumbup:

If you are a confident/experienced rider and or IAM/ROSPA that is able to read the roads without knowing them well and are happy and able to reach and maintain the national limits (think about that for a sec) where safe to do so, then the progressive group is for you.

If you are still unsure, the Leisurely group is the best option.
