I finished off the carb brackets in carbon fibre -



To give more adjustment for the TPS and rather than messing with the unit itself I slotted the bracket. Can anyone forsee any issues with doing it this way rather than opening up the slots on the TPS? -

+1. I also decided to go this route a few weeks back and now have the carbon plates to work with. Like Seb, I was wondering what you used to cut them,.... A chap on the Superahwk forum made a set of these a couple years back, hence my inspiration to get this going (that and my quickly running out of other mod options, lol)

How thick is the carbon you used? I bought a couple of 3mm sheets (likely thicker than it needs to be but better too strong than too weak).

We've got a couple of chaps locally who can water and laser cut stuff like carbon plate, they would just scan in the original ones and cut you some new ones in carbon/glass/wood/whatever

They can make any mods on the scan you want and charge a few hours labour, I'll think you'll find most towns and citys now have companies like this and most are usually very helpful

The plates were cut out roughly first from 3mm carbon fibre plates from E Bay, just drew around the O/S of the originals and then cut them using a Dremmel with cutting wheels. Once they were roughly to shape I used various sized grinding wheels in the Dremmel to take them down to the exact size. I held the carbon and original plates side by side in a vice and ensured the profiles were correct. All holes drilled first then opened upto the correct size using the little needle files supplied with the kit.
I slotted the TPS mounting holes to give better adjustment and the bolts are secured with nuts rather than the original plates tapped threads. TPS now reads 368 up to 1655.
Mik I saw those plates on the Hawk forum and have had the idea sitting in the back of my mind since. It is a piece of pish to do just a little time consuming and messy, expect a black face and hands arms. Oh and don't walk straight out of the garage into the house, through the detritis, over cream carpets leaving black footprints. No don't do that! Not that I have any experience of this at all. Bloody cats must have walked something in!!!!!
