Full service on the Tuono.
Two shims needed changing, on different banks so everything got stripped down.
Bloody racing Motul oil at sixty quid for four litres is always a bit of a shocker, but I suppose it'll earn it's keep for another season.

And wired in a replacement usb port, the last one wasn't as water resistant as they promised and gave up the ghost.

I got the battery connected, checked all the electrics and fitted the stop/tail light and number plate light. Initially I kept blowing main fuses until I realised I'd made a schoolboy error in replacing the Reg Rec - I'd left the old terminals on the wires and just taped them up . Cut them off and taped them back up so nothing can short out. Bingo, no blown fuses.

Swapped out a fresh Shock linkage on Nue Red...

Got it booked in for some new boots & MOT next week...

Tommorow it gets a brake refresh.

Fitted my black belly pan as it’s without repaired and better condition than the red/white one .
Re-routed the choke and clutch cables ,
Found and removed a bodywork rattle on the rear plastics (rubbing on the exhaust hanger.
Popped to a friends to help me set the sag on the front and rear .
The rear was easy but the front I ran out of preload even tho I have the heaviest springs you can buy in there so we made up two internal fork spacers 15 mm longer than the standard ones .
Set the sag and went for a ride down the bumpiest road around here to see if the forks would bottom out or lock out (they didn’t) just need to fine tune the rebound and compression now .

After owning my vtr for about 2&1/2 months, I’ve pretty much got it running and looking how I pictured it! Think I have spent close to 100 hours (crazy I know) on the bike fiddling with settings, checking and replacing parts and cleaning! (It’s amazing how grubby a 50k mile bike gets when you go over everything with a fine tooth comb. I still have a stutter at 2.5k revs, and it very rarely stall at idle, but I’m narrowing it down and realistically I can live with it. What a difference getting the suspension setting right can make! It was okay to begin with but now is silky smooth! Had a lot of trouble getting a correct colour match to repair some scratches on the tail, so I resorted to a £5 roll of vinyl wrap and a pair of scissors. (I still want to add some colour accents but I’m happy with it for now). I had the exhausts off and cleaned them inside and out, decided to leave the db killers off and it sounds evil! (Quill carbon ovals) the decel sound is unreal! my ears are a pretty sensitive now so I’ll invest in some earplugs. Anyway less talk more photos;
