That's a very good write up Tony, very interesting and just goes to show the complexity of it all.

Hopefully I will get the time to fit my Factory pro jet kit today, No doubt my carbs will be on and off half a dozen times in the next few weeks.

Yes, but I hate to waste time sleeping doing nothing, so sometimes I go to sleep with a stiff problem and wake up in the morning with a solution on my hands.

Not having a good day, had a bad nights sleep and woke up in a shity mood. Anyway stripped my carbs down today and fitted the Factory pro jet kit with BMC road filter.

here's the set up I am going to start with to see how she runs and I will go from there.

Front carb
180 main
50 pilot (this was the only one supplied so thought I'd give it a go)
needle clip 4th from the top
A/F 1.5 turns out

Rear carb
182 main
50 pilot
needle clip 4th from the top
A/F 1.5 turns out

Bike ran out of fuel while ticking over and warming up so ended up pushing the bike round to the petrol station. Doh, filled up, went for short run, came back and done a carb balance. While doing the balance I noticed it was dripping fuel from the front carb float bowl area. :( Can't be bothered stripping it all down again today so job for tomorrow.
I know exactly what it is. It's the gasket round the float bowl. While I had it apart I gave it a good clean and the rubber gasket fell out of place. It was fiddly repositioning it while attaching back on and I thought at the time shall I smear some gasket seal around to hold it in place. I guess that will teach me not to listen to my instincts.

Not having a good day either... Had a nice ride into work today, then when I went to leave work this evening I forgot to take the disc lock off.

wombles!

Bike went over.

Got away pretty lucky (thanks to those indestructible standard cans), slightly squashed indicator, scratched mirror, nothing to worry about really.

Only real damage is the disc mount thing, the gold bit that holds the disc on the front wheel. Basically it's mullered so the disk isn't running true, which means it's continually pushing the pads back if you try to move/ride it, so you get a big hand full of nothing for a front brake.

Now I'm waiting in the office for my brother with a trailer.

wombles wombles wombles wombles.

And the car's MOT has run out - it's booked in for Saturday morning!

Typical!

Anyone in Essex got a set of standard front discs laying about?

Cheers wicky.

I saw those 3 on ebay already. Not sure about the second set, they don't seem to be the same spoke design as mine... plus they look a bit ropey.

About the David Silver ones, are they original? I'm quite happy with the original brakes, but trying to find a set of original spec and look discs is a night mare!

Update: Oooh, I see they are original... Result!

Now to choose a flavour of brake pad... Don't worry, I won't be asking for any favourites from you guys, last time I did that I ended up with an even bigger choice than when I started!

I did it in front of 4 girls!

TBH, if they hadn't been there, I might not have attempted such a sharp pull away.

On the plus side, at least there was someone to help lift the bike off me! Yes, I was laying under it, trying to reduce damage!

Lol quality, I thought stuff like that just happened to me!

'Luckily' for me tho I somehow managed to hold the weight of the bike as it came to an abrupt holt at an angle.... Didn't half pull the muscles in my leg. Felt like a class 1 plonker ha

Oops Sorry to hear that mate. I wont have a disc lock because of that. Someone on the forum keeps a clothes peg attached to the screen to remind them. If it's attached to the screen then the lock is on. If it's not there then it's safe to go.

At least your allright, just an embarrassment  I mean, a bit embarrassed. Must be all the Yellow.

It broke the lock apart too! So much for a thatcham approved disc-lock, a thief could do exactly the same to get it off.

Obviously he's die at the first junction when the brakes didn't work, which is just desserts.
