before taking the cam belt of i have to lock the crank while the bike is tdc
theres a a removable bolt under the engine i didnt know what i was supposed to do so i used the kick start bolt its the same but half inch longer that work
it turns out now i can use theoriginal bolt just take the two washers of it there there for that purpose -_-
its a rotax engine a 350 version same one used in aprilia's and mz i beleive plus other bikes
where you see the clutch basket on the clutch case near where the clutch cable is there a y shaped plate with lever sitting on 3 ball bearings when the cable is pulled it
lifts the lever causing the y shaped plate to scew sideways thus pushing the broken bolt into the centre of the clutch basket
hope that makes sense its the first actual clutch ive seen with me own eyes lol

iddling atm is proper sh1t the battery was bone dry will need a new one sticking battery water in it and charging didnt do a thing lol
i will probs need to look into the carb jets and fuel bits next its a mare cos i aint got a bloody clue what im fiddling with
but long as i stick it back together as i took it apart and dont have any spare nuts bolts oil left over i should be ok
like to mention cos its a trusted engine far as im aware it should be proper responsive
not sound like a granny stirring a mixing bowl with the motivation of a friday afternoon factory worker in a heatwave

noticed some essential bolts are missing
ones that hold the engine to the frame lol

ignoring that i decided to try and fix the clutch issue
on inspection of the two lil access holes on the engine things was definatley a little wrong
there was a tension nut missing and the bolt was broken
both in the right side hole
Image

meant draining her from the frame oil sump
and engine sump
then taking of the belt cover the belt tthe belt tensioners some kinda gear cover
then the clutch cover

i do like looking at the moving bits in an angine
Image
it was a pain in the butt to lock the crank in position
all to get this bolt out
Image
anyway with advice from neighbour he had a bolt suitable for me to cut the head of and make
a slot for a screw driver so after sticking it all back together
she kind of works but is dragging the clutch atm i mean in gear with the clutch pulled right in
she is still turning the back wheel not sure how to fix this issue atm

would like to add if it wasnt for the workshop day i wouldntof had the courage to go this deep into the bike :D
i would say and this is from a fellow non professional that your grass needs cutting

cant wait to have a go on it!

Replaced choke cable on nurse Vik's recently acquired 98 blue storm - fun job in limited space. Also added newer R/R . All body work off and discovered the extent of barely concealed damage to plastics - lots of crappy soldering iron crack bodging and they failed to drill cracks so surface cracks appearing through paintwork plus screws holding the fairing together missing :eek2 Tacky silver hammerited wheels but apart from that a tidy relatively low milage storm.

Raced to get it back together before kids needing picking up from school and just as tank was back on noticed I'd forgotten to put the air filter back in *D'oh!* 10 minutes extra after school reading...
It may be that your whole purpose in life is simply to serve as a warning to others.

was working in a local powder coating firm today so i took liberties :D
Image

tried the rest of the panels up to it before... realised what this broken part is for...
Image
it's the tailpiece that covers the petrol tank & ties the 2 sidepanels together.
i haven't got the rest of it so i'll have to scour ebay & breakers for one before i can spray it up :(

also made a new 12" stubby carbon can for it then realised the adapter i welded onto the header is the same diameter as the can inlet. doh :problem:
i'll get it in the hydraulic swager tomorrow and crush it a bit so it fits :Beer Popcorn:

Changed the oil and filter, fitted new indicator relay for the leds, rewired the rear lightbulb holders which were very corroded, and fitted the heated grips that I've been looking at on my shelf all winter. Might need them now summer is coming
Also painted the replacement forks I'll be fitting later this week.

Now, beer.
