Where's Yellow come into that then. Shouldn't it be White so he had Red White and Blue.

Just been out with the clay bars and drill smoothing out the roughness from the wire brush on my header pipes. Then gave them a quick buff of Autosol. They have come out pretty good and a vast improvement over what I started with. Could have done a better job and put a bit more time and effort into it, but it's too much hard work, so I settling for a vast improvement rather than perfection.

Just got to go out and drill the exhaust studs out the front cylinder. pain in the butt job

Mine and amcq46 dyno comparison

I have had a nightmare of a day. Those bloody exhaust studs beat me couldn't drill them out. I was at it for about 3 hours drilling one stud. It's really p'd me off. Not sure what I'm gonna do about it now, maybe just get the dam thing spot welded so it held in place. It's not as if I will be taking the headers off again. Not in a hurry anyway. So put the headers back on with only silicone holding the front in place Those studs must be made out of Kryptonite or something.

The culprit, no bolts and held by silicone. Yes it's blood Red, not to keen on that either. Whurth High Temp silicone. They never mentioned it was Red.

it only took ten minutes to drill mine out .
you need better drill bits

Take the heads off.
It's a lot easier with them on the bench, and it doesn't take long.
Cost is only a couple of head gaskets.

That's something I may have to consider. It's only the front cylinder. It would give me more access but I don't have a bench drill. Even with brand new metal bit's it was a struggle. Managed to drill about 2mm into one of the studs. Started with small pilot drill.

I did try removing the studs by other means, but they are well seized. So angle grinded the excess thread and got the drill out. I'm shocked how tuff those studs are. I never had this grief when I had to drill one out the Fazer.

Hi,

I fitted a tinted bubble screen today bought off e-bay for €23. I had to slot two holes to get it to fit properly. Not sure whether I'm totally happy with the look of it now. Anyway I'll see after I've ridden it. After that I polished the original screen in case I want to swap it back.

Very happy with that power and fuel curve, wanted to have at least 100, but secretly hoping for 105, so just a knats rock under 107 was a result.
Kev the dyno man said he wouldn't try and fix the rich spike at 5000 revs, he thought it would be very tricky to improve on that, and it would make it nice and tractable on the road...which it is...so looks like another 10yr can pass till I need to fiddle with the carbs again.

now we know why yours is very smooth on the power (it just pulls cleanly to the limiter )
just had an other play with mine on the road .
i do like it and the noise from the gutted box so its staying on .
the yellow preformed very well today so much so i spat my dummy out
yes a yellow one had more power to day

Checked valve clearances, all still in spec since the winter rebuild. I can now leave them alone for a few miles.
Had a look at plugs, seemed a little lean and advanced, but that advancer's staying in, so I went up a size on the mains instead. However the front carb's mixture adjuster's castellated bits sheared off,- thanks to Lloydie for a spare on its way.

Balanced carbs, oil and filter change, swapped over some furry fixings for nice shiny stainless ones, and tomorrow I'll be fitting the secret development parts that i hope will cure the clutch grab problem once and for all.
It's still secret though, in case it doesn't work, so don't mention it to a soul.

A general playing around day, nice and peaceful and easy in the sunshine.
Tomorrow a bit of tidying up, a quick road test, and a well-earned bottle of claret, I think.

might even fit that carbon-sticky back plastic fairing centre that Marty made up for me, but I'll still hate myself for it not being real....

Popped the tank off P's - checked the fuel lines, all ok, no pinches - so that's not the cause of the misfire (even checked the vac tap - 2 pools of fuel to prove that's ok). Swapped out the plugs (skinned knuckles!) and she fired and ticked over sweet. Did my plugs while my hands were still bleeding, then jumped on P's and blasted round Tamworth, Whittington and down the A5 - sweeeet! Hopefully that's all it was. Once home and while warm it got treated to a new oil filter and 4l of Semi Synth. Busy afternoon, finished off with Much Tinnieness and a pizza....

But if you factor in the miles on your engine ( about 3 times what's on mine) and the added oil it has to burn (that might be why it is rich, the lambda sensor is detecting the oil ... (as its an oxygen sensor, that bit is made up!)) ...... And i guess a lower compression too..........Your set up should be worth 110 on a newer engine
