Make sure the replacement plate has the same reg no as the old one - took me a few weeks and a chat with various nice policemen one night to realise that mine had been made wrong :-)
It may be that your whole purpose in life is simply to serve as a warning to others.

Coming home from work driving up the A59 3 lane dual carriageway behind a nobber in a baseball cap in his Vauxhall Zafira who was sticking like glue to the central reservation. Naturally as soon as the opportunity presented its self I shot up his inside and legged it past him. :redface

Why do people do this? Why don't the police ever seem to be nicking people for it when you can't pass a traffic copper if your bike has a small rear number plate without being hauled over & read the riot act? :?

Rant over. (for now)

Got pulled over by an unmarked silver BMW 1-series rozzer yesterday...for no insurance! He got as far as asking his colleague to check with their garage about seizing the bike before I persuaded him to ring Bennett's and check that I had insurance. He rang the MIB who rang Bennett's, who confirmed that I am insured.

Back in January I added my old CB500 back onto my policy, and seemingly at this point they managed to balls something up with the MIB database. I'm amazed I haven't been pulled before now given how much ANPR equipment there is around and that I ride basically every day.

I've made them refund me the £32 admin fee I paid to adjust the policy in January – why should I pay that for them to do a job which they messed up enough for me to have to spend forty minutes in a police car, and risk having my bike seized and going to court? He said if it had been the middle of the night and he'd been unable to verify it with my insurers then the latter would have happened :Argue 1:

At least the officer turned out to be a decent bloke and a fellow biker, and he was just doing his job, but Bennett's (or possibly the MIB, but I doubt it even though the person from Bennett's I spoke to today vaguely tried to imply that it was their fault) have wasted mine and the policeman's time and temporarily pissed me off a lot. Although now that I'm getting the £32 back I'm not quite so bothered.
