Private companies dont do any better, try and get broadband round my way, were still on ADSL, 4 miles away they have mega basket fast Broadband.lumpyv wrote:Kev L wrote:It's been poor management of a poorly valued resource for years that has led us to this position. thats the problem with nationlising the utilities . it costs too much to do it properly and make millions of pounds of profit. oh and dont forget the chairman will need one or two million salary a year + shares + a fat pension deal.
thats cos providing it is a business not a service. lots of well off folk living in big houses in the middle of nowhere moan like hell about slow adsl but they most likely voted for the party that privatised the post office. mind you i can only guess what service would be available if it hadnt been. but if theres no payback big firms wont botherStormingHonda wrote:Private companies dont do any better, try and get broadband round my way, were still on ADSL, 4 miles away they have mega basket fast Broadband.lumpyv wrote:Kev L wrote:It's been poor management of a poorly valued resource for years that has led us to this position. when I asked virgin, it wasnt worth them doing it.
there providing water arent they?, and as with broad band you need to lay fibre optic cables, a bit like the water company laying pipes that dont leak, the difference between private and nationlised companies is the private one tend to screw its workforce and customers a bit more.lumpyv wrote:

No its just dail up on steriods, with no limit on time used.rz_racer_69 wrote:I thought ADSL was broadband, as in "Internet access that is always on and faster than the traditional dial-up access". We have warehouses in some remote areas that get by with 756KB, provided by local WiFi companies. No DSL (or adsl), or Cable, or 3G cellular. It's a big country over here, lol.
