You nicked the bike then

With regards to the suspension, Honda built the bike to a budget and the suspension was a compromise. Rear too hard and the front too soft, not the best unless your a 5ft Japanese bloke only weight 10 stone  I found a Performance bike article once that recommends the Bikes settings as
Rear Preload - Position 2 Rebound - ¼ of a turn out from full in Front Preload - 2nd groove showing Rebound - ¼ of a turn out from full in
. It seemed to work for me with the standard setup. It's not ideal but it's better and I intend on upgrading my suspension at a later date.

I also have a 6mm spacer under the rear shock and have dropped my forks 10mm which has improved the turn in.

(:-})
What is classed as second grove showing do you have a pic??
I have set my bike as above (ithink) I'm happy with the rear but the front seems to 'chatter' over rough tarmac.

There should be some very fine score marks around the pre load tube.

There's a really clear image on page 15 of the user handbook that shows ithttp://www.vtr1000.org/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?f= ... al#p225373 Image

i have my suspension set at 2 1/2 rings on the front preload and one turn in from soft on the rebound(2 turns in with pillion), rear is at position 3 on the preload (5 with pillion)and 1/2 turn on the rebound,(no adjustment with pillion) 32mm of sag. 10mm drop on front forks which i am going to put back to standard as it turn too quick now......i`m 5`11 and 12 stone. handles very well for me......may not for others

Yes, mate and I went there looking for a bike for myself. He tried to flog me a very old, tired looking Bandit for £1600, I walked away trying not to laugh...
