Crikey I started my apprenticeship in Norton, lost my virginity to a girl from Norton and bought my second bike from Austins bike shop in Norton. Jesus

Hi mate I'm not far away south of York ,a few members here abouts , if you need any help give me a shout ,go to squires a lot if you ever fancy a run out ,yorshire run is may next year have a look in runs/events,by the way what colour is it (red is best).ady f.
Sounds good, looking forward to a ride-out if I can just get ONE of my bikes running again. The VFR is refusing to start, it has some kind of electronics issue, hope I haven't fried the ECU.

Apparently it has done 29 000 miles, so a bit less than the old engine.

Somebody must have a strong back putting that VTR engine in there like that

Good luck with it all,

Chris.

Right, so here is the update.
Tried and failed to get the old engine out, (WD40, heat and a very large lump-hammer failed to shift the front engine bolt) so decided to swap out the front heads instead. Bought a head gasket from David Silver, was the same price as copy gaskets from e-bay, so why not. It was pretty straightforward, and the bike is back together and running. The new head does seem to clatter it's valves a bit, but perhaps I just didn't notice with the old engine, I am a bit paranoid now in case the engine decides to commit harakiri again. I don't want to ride it much until I get manual tensioners installed.

Well done, good work

Fit stoppers to the std CCTs and then you have peace of mind for free
