I'm really sorry but I can't take that recommendation as goldfren are without doubt the shittest pads in the universe. I tried them on the fazer and my mate thought the brakes were warped when he rode it JUST because of the pads, changed to originls and they were about 400 times better.
i agree with that goldfren are cheapish but crap
the pads i took of mine were goldfren and ive ordered some oem honda ones to try on my discs and see if they are warped or not

btw just won an auction on eblay 16 pound for a freshly powdercoated rear wheel with new bearings and good tyre
Aha you know what it is black and yellow...black and yellow !!!

So are there any other waveys that have a definite good rep?
I wouldn't touch the Chinese/Taiwan copies with a bargepole. But if you get a better brand like Armstrong, Galfer I think your allright but they don't come cheap.

And where might Armstrong and Galfer buy their blanks or even finished disc, I wonder.
It's not as though the metal used is different, grades of steel are to very tight specs.
The differences are in the grade used, good stuff is more expensive. But paying more doesn't guarantee you getting a better grade.

My experience with a Chinese wavy rear disc was that it wasn't cut properly, the cutouts were too close to the disc edge, and that led to cracks appearing.
I don't think the grade or heat treatment would have made much difference, it was simply a case of the section of metal being too small near to the edge, and hot metal being splashed with cold rainwater being the most likely factors, I would have thought.

But a good brand has a reputation to lose and so is more likely to provide a decent product, there's no cracking on the Braking Wave rear one.
It's not falling off, it's an upgrade opportunity.

Make sure get the mating surfaces spotless, any tiny bit of dirt there will make them mount wonky, which will give you the symptoms of......... you guessed it......... warped discs!

Don't want that again, i know members on here would do it for me but i need to do it myself or i'll never learn, there's lots worse bikes to learn on than this one.

It's not rocket science. I normally give the discs a spin on the hub to make doubly sure, hopefully it would work any tiny bits out to the edge and you can also get a feel for how flat it is seating, it feels different if theres something stuck under there

Agreed.
Powder coating will not leave a flat surface, and so you have to clean all of the powder coat off the disc mounting face before bolting the disc on.

It's not a hard job to do and a good one to start with for building up your maintenance skills. Just be meticulous and take the opportunity to clean things up as you go along. Don't forget to threadlock the disc bolts and torque them up.

Just for fun, I thought I'd mention that I discovered last night that the front discs on mine have been put on the wrong sides. I mean, it's not as if they come with a little arrow stamped in to show you which way round they go or anything. No wait, they do! Morons!

Probably doesn't make much odds, but not confidence inspiring is it :eek2 Will have to make sure the wheel's the right way round too. Ho hum.

thats dangerous
i had my track bike taken to a local garage to fit wets on it and they fitted them the wrong way 8O i only noticed when i arrived at the track so had to spend some more pennys to have them put right
as for discs i always take them off before a tyre fitting and always make sure they are fitted the right way
