they are more pencil lead colour in real life look a bit bronze in photos, would it be okay for the front down pipe??
I did the baking whilst the misses was at work as they smoked like a b8stard had to have doors and windows open

Says the paint is good for up to 650C so should be fine Thats what I plan to do with mine anyway......

Blew it up reconnected the vacuum pipe to fix it and fitted a Scott Oiler. I've also spent the past 10 minutes convinced it's gained more power from somewhere :S

i did mine in the oven, they set the smoke alarms off......
smelt f-ing terrible aswell. just aswell i didn't stick them in the microwave
looking very good buddy, imho you don't need to use vht paint on the cam covers, i've now changed mine to hammerite satin black and its looking fine.
would be interested to see how the paint stands up on the exhaust tho...

now for the front, I had to glue the rubber gasket in with some hylo-mar gasket seal and spent a while checking it was seated correctly before tightening the cam cover bolts.


looks better than my attempt to mask the flaky covers with black permanent marker pen .

as you can see here

process was :

• Wire brush drill attachment all the flakyness !
• 400 grit wet n dry all over
• degrease/clean with eco brush cleaner
• blowdry
• masking tape the breather hose outlet
• apply http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/281016020764? ... 1423.l2649 in light coats, 10 min intervals.
• dry for 1 hour room temp ,remove masking tape then into the oven at 160c for 30 mins

I was expecting the front cover to get scratched when re-fitting but it is as hard as nails

I must give acid etch primer a thumbsup quality product a perfect base for the top coat ;)

did this the other day and have simonzi tough satin black top coat on now but leaving a week in front of a radiator in the spare room before fitting , pics to follow.

Looking good - don't forget etch primer is nasty toxic stuff and scrape some of the finish off from the subframe when remounting the R/R so it can efficiently ground/conduct heat away.

how is the rear flappy rubber thing meant to fit? the one that starts at the tank mount ??

i was going to use this http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Thermal-Heat- ... 48427d8c08 and not scrape away or is both best ?
+ i have an under tray, mabey a fan too would be a good idea

It starts from the tank mount and then wraps round the fuel tap - presumably to stop any unfortunate fuel leaks landing directly onto a hot engine
