Think it might be a bit cold for spray painting so stopped after 3 coats as it is not covering the edges and the red primer is still showing through!

talk about a waste of an afternoon!

Chric, I did think about a CF bar protector, but as I have fitted bar clamps for Renthals, the cover plate wont work so well as I would have to cut chunks out of it and then it would look crap again.

I think I am heading in the direction of a satin black yoke now, but will wait for warmer weather for that. so now I have a gloss black yoke with clear hints of red showing through on every edge. would look pretty trick if I had a black or a red bike!

Today I swapped over carb diaphragm the black rubber things in carbs from my import to uk items .
And fitted a younger set of carb springs . Reset mixture screws to 2 out front 2.5 out on rear as they were 2.5 front and 1.75 rear !!!!
Balanced the carbs (best I've done it yet)
Image
Fitted standard airbox ready for mot as my mot man don't like the smell of hot oil .
Just need tyres now then its ready for the mot :-)

i've used spray hammerite on my blade yokes(top and bottom), i gave them a good clean, a little sand, heres a trick i used when spraying in colder temps, get one of those halogen heaters from lidl or whwere evres cheapest, they're less than 20 squid, plonk that infront of the item you want to spray, to get some heat into it, then using pissy hammerite spray, you can build up several coats, keep the heater on the item between coats, i got great results using satin black, i'll post some pics when i get back to blighty, seriously thinking of getting my forks adonised gold..... :erection:

when i did my yoke i left it in the house over night to warm up .
the same with the paint .
armed with a hair drier to keep the heat in them and it also helps the air temp .
give it a dust coat and use the drier to set the paint as soon as its tacky give it a good coat then get the heat on it again but leave it an hour before and after every coat from then on .
once its had 5 coats leave it in a dry warm place to harden for a week or two .

and dont get any paint where the forks fit .

Today i had pilot power 2ct's fitted and had them dynamically balanced  .
then fitted the wheels on the bike and put some go go juice in the tank and took it for the MOT .

bad news :( its running rich and bogging down when i roll on the throttle .
so half a turn in on the mixtures screws tomorrow should fix it .

good news it passed the MOT with flying colours .
i like the newer MOT paper that shows the last four years mileage at time of the MOT .
My MOT man had a red storm last year with onlt 8k on it and sold it as it was to fast for him  good job it wasn't a black one or he'd be dead  .
He commented on how nice its looking now and can't believe it has done 70k

So a good day oh and i love the new tyres

LOL I just enquired about the MOT in my cleaning thread.

Well done, that's good news. Didn't you change the air filter/box back recently. That would have messed things up.

Looks pretty nice Griff, simple but it stands out :)

Fixed pretty much all of the main problems with my bike. Re-fitted and balanced carbs and sorted out all my gears and torque'd everything back up.. Even got my scott oiler to work again! :D And my a happy coincidence, it's also a lot louder now

Some nice pictures there by everyone.

Griff I enhanced yours. Some subtle changes but an improvement.

That bit above the seat was bugging me.

And this needed some depth of field. My eye kept getting pulled outside the garage.

Oh and in case you thought about following in Lloyds footsteps.
