That reminds me how scared I'm gonna be of declaring my rear shock...

Put a shock sock on it.
Less likely to be spotted by teefs as well as insurers.

like carl I did and they weren't bothered as long as they are less expensive than standard replacements from Honda - no idea how much they are mind but i reckon a pair new would be £300 plus

Just looked on Lings and the standard exhausts are £276 a side.

Today I decided to do some carb fettling and put my FP kit back in, now I have 45 pilots. All I have got to say is WOW!!! it put a grin on my face. The front just wants to lift off the throttle and I can really feel how bad my front suspension is now

I'm sure if I changed my gearing it would wheelie off the throttle

Fork upgrade is next on my list. Going to stick with standard forks and upgrade the springs, taper the rebound rod etc.
My current setup is as follows:
BMC Street filter and Factory Pro TI Kit
Front carb
175 main
45 pilot
needle clip 3rd from the bottom
Removed standard 10though shim
A/F 2 ¾
standard emulsion tube
Rear carb
178 main
45 pilot
needle clip 3rd from the bottom
left the standard 10though shim in
A/F 2.5
I shall have to wait and see what my fuelling is like now, hopefully it has improved. I may have to tweak things slightly. Possibly put a rear emulsion tube in the front as well. And/or up the mains 1 size up. But on the other hand I don't want to mess with things if it's running well.

Maybe I will take it for a dyno run first and see where everything is at before tinkering again.
I got lucky with the mixture and took a guess and set the screws while the carbs where off and the bike's idles perfectly at around 900 then as the bike gets up to full running temp it idles at 1000 with no fluctuations when blipping the throttle.
I'm happy

Wish I could remember my last settings mate, not got a clue what my A/F is set at. Don't know how you can happily play with it in this cold it just depressed me, it's great tho on a warm sunny day with a few coffees and the odd beer to hand I'd do it all day long but not on a dank winters day, if I had a garage I could move around in then that would be great but have to do mine at the front of the house on the road side

Oops one to many zero's
Seb today was the first reasonable day we have had down in here in a few weeks. It was dry with very little wind but no Sun. Not perfect weather but good enough to get something done. I was starting to get pissed off with not being able to get out and tinker. I still have a tank to spray and I want to do my forks soon. You should make notes of all your carb changes and the dates you changed things. It makes a handy reference one can refer back to.
Talking about forks, Tony do you know what modifications where made internally on the later storm forks. I'm wondering if they have tapered the rebound rod.

No idea, why not compare part numbers on the parts fiches?
I suspect they didn't bother changing them at all.

Far from standard and I doubt anyone will find or copy them. Arata TI Race cans, which I run without the baffles.
I'm not sure if they will pass health & safety inspection on noise levels.

Bloody bike shop!
Had my storm booked in for a re-test (mot) failed on handlebars slightly (I mean just) catching the fairing at full lock. I changed the bars over and fitted my new heated grips and took the bike for it's re-test to get there and be told the tester is sick. He said he has been ill all week, I said why could you not have phoned me, you have my details, he just shrugged his shoulders - twit! I had to change my plans around and make alternative arrangements to get the bike there this morning.
I have just 3 days to get it back for free re-test and I am working everyday now - tossers. Lousy service, I won't buy anything from them again now. You can't help being ill but phones are never further than a few feet from anyone these days and it takes just a few seconds to call me.
