I have had to make an emergency tent purchase as the Aldi one I used in Scotland wasnt too good in the high winds [outside and inside ], plus it returned from Reading Festival use with #2 daughter a bit 2nd hand looking............so any excuse for a new gadget

dont worry, the slow group riders arent slow [unless they are restricted by their bike having 33hp....Virt, we might have to remove the restrictors at the campsite on friday ] and the "progressive" group riders arent super fast.
Both the lead and the tail [Geo & Flatty] on the slow group can both ride fast when the need is there, but they like to explore, look at the sceanery, stop & take photos etc.
The progressive group might only go 10% faster, but we stop less and want to spend more time in the saddle enjoying the roads..........we tend to eat in petrol stations rather than a nice tea shop
For the bits I will lead, I dont tend to go too fast on the straight bits, but will make progress past cars to make sure I get a clear run in the bends and I grew up on country B roads so I do like to wind it on in the corners ........ the other leader MJONSEY is the same, he grew up on these roads and knows whats what.
As both groups will be doing the same route for the first 100 miles, and meeting up at Bala for lunch, you can work out who you want to ride with for the afternoon after seeing the state of play in the morning
Thanks for taking the time to explain mate, the leisurely group sounds great especially after a day in the saddle on Fri.
As for the rest of you... I'm glad I ain't bringing my mum now!! maybe next year she will have her own bike, she used to ride a C90 back in 1820 or something
Don't worry Jamie, Group B is fast enough, progressive ,filters and moves with the flow of traffic, wherever safe n legal ( ) and defo does not do 50mph. .I personally have ridden with some of the VTR guys on different rides not specifically this meet but I live in SW Wales and know more of the southern loop sectors (as Brecon and Builth are on my doorstep so to speak) more than the Northern ones on that route but I know from experience they don't hang about and I had a brilliant ride out with them round Hay on Wye etc 3-4 yrs ago and I like to think I don't ride too slow, I don't hold folk up but last time out a month ago over the North York moors, my tyres weren't the best so I was slowing a bit on the bends, but I was up there behind Andy (LS) and Fran n now got new rubber and renewed confidence so not so bad. But at no time did I feel as if I couldn't keep up but I have heard group 1 will ride a fair bit faster ( hearsay m'lord) than group B but saying that if my experiences are anything to go by, Group B will definitely be fast enough, progressive, comfortable and by no means slow! Just saying like...
As an Idea for a ride, you guys getting there on the Friday, why not take a ride to Newquay? Those roads are lovely, take in the Elan Valley/Crossgates? Not too far, but lovely roads from the campsite.
Silly boys...Women do have balls....We just wear them higher up!
Ok brill cheers, i don't want anyone to think I'm hoping to go stupid and ride on the edge, just didn't want to sit behind cars when a (sensible) overtake is possible.
I do ride very sensibly, there's too much to lose, and watching a lot of supposedly "fast" riders makes my blood boil when you see their road craft, or lack of! I'm sure everyone here will have the head screwed on. I think the leisurely group will be perfect
