got out for a 200 miler round derbyshire, cat n fiddle, long hill, matlock & ashbourne down some ace roads thx to cheeky kev's directions, then nipped to darley moor to spectate my mate minjer on his zx6r but they'd all packed up lol... carried on back the way i came, back up the fiddle then turned off down toward congleton & back on the a50.
fkin love this bike

get this though... did 173 miles before fuelling up, about 15 mile after the fuel light came on - filled up 14.7 litres (3.23 gallons)
173 / 3.23 = 53.6 mpg by anybodys standards that is fking good, and as you know i do not hang about lol

lol, well assuming the speedo is inaccurate, the mileage probably is out too, but not that much.... if i guess 10% out it's still over 45mpg! well happy with that lol!
ive had well over 200 miles out of the tank before so was expecting it to take a lot more than 14L!!!
still cost me £21 though.... 1.47 a litre now for the good stuff

I too attempted the TPS today, got her all stripped down, then bottled it as I dont really have a scooby what Im doing...Must buy a bloody haynes!
So, next step, have a look at the idle jet, again, bottled it lmao.
But, in the air box was this mucky looking oil, is this normal?
top left... So all I did in the end was adjust the idle and wash and re-oil the air filter.

yeh the oil is normal, just give it a wipe when you have the lid open, does no harm.
it's from the breathers.
wtf bottling it lol, theres nothing to it! get on with it you poof!
if you get stuck give us a ring. pm'd you my moby.
all you do, take the tank off (already off)
unplug the tps connector
there are 3 pins in the sensor, set your tester to ohms and read the resistance between the middle & top pins.
adjust accordingly.
you will probably only be able to get 500 ohms without modding the sensor mounting plate (see thread in workshop)
what's wrong with the idle jet???? not much to look at.
i just lowered the needles on mine a clip to try & cure an annoying hiccup at 3500rpm, replaced the vac hoses as they were a bit perished, adjusted my vacuum relief valves for more relief (reduce engine braking), then put it all back together and re balanced the carbs - found them to be a mile out, probably due to the front vac hose was fkt.
they are now spot on so just have to put the tank back on then give it a good test
i fitted a fuel filter when i put it all back together last time & you should see the crap it's filtered out... well worth doing this especially after a respray chaps... i'll change it for a new one when the tank goes back on.
saved me having to strip the carbs

haha, well, it looked like I had to unbolt the carb mounting! Thats where my pants went a touch brown
But since cleaning the oil filter, the bike is notably more sluggish, doesnt take off aswell at 7.5k. I reckon I over oiled the beastie
Cheers for ya number bud, will save it! I reckon if I had a haynes to hand, I wouldnt feel so blind when I go in there.
As for the idle jets, I reckon they are gummed up, bike is a bit snatchy at a steady throttle.

done the TPS today as well, was 984 ohms could only get it down to 547 on the adjustment but followed benny and tony.mon's thread and got it down to 450 by slight dremmeling the slot and bending the tang thingy's took it round the block and its a lot better than it was before quite pleased with myself really as i'm no mechanic but getting more involved with the storm.
