Hi Mik,

I've just had the time to have a good read through of the specs at the beginning of the thread with all the stuff you've had done to the bike. One thing that stuck out a lot in my eyes and i'm interested in is the triple clamps.

Can I ask what you thought of the difference that come about by the 5mm offset with the triple clamps you had fitted and how it affected the bike handling wise?

Thanks in advance

Mark

The bike seems to be a bit more planted in the corners (ie. doesn`t move around quite as much). This (triples with altered offset) was apparently a common mod made to racing and track-bound Fireblades of that era. It`s worth noting that Honda adopted this change to the 98-99 Blade as well (in addition to spreading out the tubes 10mm for added rigidity FWIW). I bought it for these reasons, and also because it`s an all aluminum design so it`s lighter than the OEM piece I had on before. It also has double pinch bolts on the lower for added grip on the tubes.

So it's a mod that you would consider a worthwhile improvement now you've had the experience with the changes it made to the handling characteristics?

With the 10mm wider spacing of the tubes I presume it would be just a simple case of adding 5mm each side to the wheel spacers to compensate?

Am I allowed to ask if you have any images of the lowers as I see the top yoke in the pictures at the beginning of the thread?

Thanks in advance

Mark

The triples I am using (aftermarket bits by now defunct Ontario Moto Tech) do not have the wider spacing, only the different offset. The OEM triples used on 98-99 Blades had both the wider spacing and revised offset (while not directly related, the 98-99 also used larger 310mm brake rotors, hence a different fork lower). Sorry if my earlier post led to misinterpretation.....

Thanks for the reply as I was thinking along the lines that your yokes had both changes.

Can I ask another question, I read somewhere that you are changing over your front spindle to a titanium one, is this a solid titanium spindle or does it still have the hole all the way through the middle like the original one, also if you could get a rear one in titanium would you change that as well?

Sorry for all the questions..
