Because hornet front ends usually cost upwards of £200... Considering I have no money and the bike has also been booked for a service and MOT, and me and my brother have moved to Rugby and my Dad has moved to Bristol. We don't have a whole lot to throw around  and we will do but still, ouchies to the price

From what I remember both seals leaking and brake pads due to fork oil... Am I right?
You never see a motorcycle parked in front of a psychiatrists for psycho therapy. All I need is cycle therapy

Yep. And last time we did the forks (last year) we couldn't actually dismantle or open one of them or anything. So it needs new forks instead of new seals. I lost all front suspension and front brake not long ago from it. That was a nice 2 mile ride. Felt every single bump in the road. God my back hurt

Fitted H7R hid kit and pleased these bulbs are so much better than the last gen of hid bulbs they actually work well in the reflector and don't appear to scatter light

i'm yet to park the bike up and go look at it from a distance but it looks promising so far from the garage

was a bitch to fit as there is wombles all room to tuck a fart on the gsxr

went for 5000 kelvin looks very good, might get 6000 kelvin bulb at some point as that will look great with the blue bike

just need some decent side lights as it makes them look very yellow now compared to the dipped beam

not sure which will work best in the GSXR side lights tho.....

Re 600 Hornet - Did different years have different spec forks and brakes - Isn't the 900 also known as a Hornet?

Didn't think of that.. Presumably it will be the same forks. It uses the same chassis as the 600 from my era so I presume it will mean similar forks but I don't know. My dad ordered them and they'll be turning up today or tomorrow. If it's the wrong size I'm sure you will all hear me screaming :D

A quick bit of research shows different forks between 98/99 & 00 years as early versions had 16" front wheel - still they were all 41mm, 900 Hornet has 43mm forks so not plug'n'play.

Got the warrant of fitness ... apart from what ya gotta do, they keep on stormin' on

New chain and put on a couple of extra teeth on the rear sprocket ... just to make 2nd gear more useful on the tighter corners while keeping the top end still there for the straight (gonna have a race in a "clubman" class) ... it worked well in a hillclimb recently; of 16 clubmans I got 3rd, ahead R1, GSXR & CBR1000s; only two that were faster was a Ducati Hypermotard with 1198 motor & a new CBR. My only other mods are after market pipes, freeflow airfilter, stage 1 carb kit & stiffer front springs .... hmmm, what next on poor man's budget ??

Just bought a house today ... with a garage; about time the lovely had walls as well as a roof over her head :Shock1:

put my new/secondhand mirrors on today, the button head bolts on the extenders didn't last long, because i have to undo and retighten them everytime i go for a ride(narrow garden gate) my allens keys started to chew up the bolts. so i bought a couple of ti bolts that tighten with a socket/spanner rather than allens keys.
i also painted my spare cam cover that will be replacing the pairs system on the new model engine for the spondon bike. twas a royal pain in the butt taking them back to bare metal, but they needed doing, etch primer, halfords gloss black(because i had it sitting around) and 3 coats of laquer and jobs a good'un. i'll let the paint harden before cutting and polishing.
and lastly i bought a couple of 14ml tins of enamel paint in the hope of trying to match the colour of the engine casings. i chipped the paint on the clutch side when i had to take the old c/f cover off, so they looked a tad tatty. the colour match ain't the greatest, but its better than what it was.

nothing. put fuel in it picked up mate on his cb1000r then off for 70 mile ride around the twisties was good fun swapped bikes after half way big difference no noise from the cb1000 but still a quick bike kept up with vtr easy. found had a lot of steering wobble at 110+ not sure if this due to tire pressure not checked it yet. still enjoyed the v twin roar and the way it lifts its front wheel so easy.
ride it till the tires fall off then keep going !!!!!!!
