Read all the info on Shock adjustment, preload, sag, rebound etc and then set up 100% the way they said, rode it yahoo, it was fab, its been adjusted to match the Rogered forks and they all seem to be working together a treat. I didn't realise the set up could be so good.

Took it out for a short ride and basically chuffed to nuts with it. Washed it Polished it and locked it away until tomorrow. Oh joy dry and warm.

Well, I have had a few days off work, so the bike now looks like this.

Image

I have had fun taking wheels, subframe and fairing frame to powdercoaters. Meanwhile I have been in the shed polishing bits and stripping and cleaning re greasing stuff.

Now have a pile of shiny bits in my shed looking like this.

Can't wait to start putting it back together again.

Straightened a spare gearchange lever and fitted it, straightened the LH DHB crash bung bracket and repainted it, ready to be bolted on in the morning ready for a quick trip up to Warwick for Ma's day visit.
Minor drop. butt on a scooter stopped to turn right no indicators, by which I mean that all four of his indicators had been worn away by previous crashes!
I stopped, nearly, but it lay down for a rest on it's LH side to let the smoke from the front tyre dissipate.

He had MCE on speed dial on his phone, so had a long chat with them, then called his mum (ah, bless) who advised him to start saying he had a back pain every few minutes.
Sadly for him I have a witness saying that he was riding erratically, undertook me then pulled across me and stopped without indicating.

Hopefully he's given me a false name so I can drop him in it with the old bill.

But we all had to learn sometime.....

Total damage, scrape on indicator, scrape on indy mirror.

Don't mind drops like that, cheapest one ever

All together now........it's another upgrade opportunity!!
Well done on taking it so calmly. Did you not fancy the AP approach? Giving him a lttle spin round whilst holding the front of his crash helmet!!

TBH I'm not that fussed about upgrading indy's and mirrors....
Must try harder.

my all balls taper bearings arrived this morning so after a quick cuppa I'm in the garage and in what seemed like no time at all they were in.
I like it when jobs go as planned with no rock ups or unforeseen problems, this job went as planned from the off, the only tricky part is knocking the lower bearing race into the headstock laying on your back hammering away is never fun but even this was relatively painless. So now the new bearings are in and the steering feels nice and smooth dropping from one side to the other very nicely, the old ones weren’t that bad but the new ones feel much better, all in all well cuffed.

As part of the front end strip down I cleaned all the brake callipers, removed and checked the pads, re-greased the front spindle, cleaned the front wheel etc and re-assembled.
As part of this front end overall I decided to renew my brake fluid (got some nice Motul RBF 600 left over from my rally car build) unfortunately this job proved more problematic. What I thought would be a simple matter of bleeding through some fresh fluid proved to be a right pain. Once I cracked the bleed nipples it proved impossible to pull the fluid through and after around 1 hr of trying still no joy, it was then I noticed the MC banjo bolt was damp. All I can think is it had been knocked or disturbed in some way while I’ve had the front end in bits, anyway with some new copper washes fitted it bled up no trouble.
Tomorrow I’ll have go at the rear end clean check the rear brake, clean lube chain then all I need is the oil and filter to turn up and it’s good to go again..
