Pete, what we find works OK at IOM or when newbies with us is that everyone goes at their own pace (comfort zone). Just keep to the same road till a turning point the either all leaders wait for the rear guard, or someone who knows where they're going to next waits while the 'lead' pack crack on.warby221 wrote:could always do 2-3 groups slow, intermidiate and fast with meet up points on way just needs people to be honest about your riding
So if there's a cross roads but no turning, just keep going until you see the waiting pack etc.
Bit like we did on the Dales run (once we got going

Mike (FSM), if there's me and / or any others from this side, where do you want to meet?
Wooley services again?
Unless of course, your plan is still to crash at Daves on Saturday?
In which case I'll either meet up with the Lancs lot (not too far from me and some nice roads down to Matlock) or just head staright down there meself.

Sorry Mike, musta missed thatFirestormMike wrote:FirestormMike wrote:As for travelling down, not 100% sure what I'm doing yet, may be stopping at Zippers Sat night. If not then I'll post on here with plenty of time if anyone's taking M1 route, Woolley Edge (8am)services is a good stop off point as Graeme says.

Full agreement with Mike, I've done the First Bike on Scene course now but I really don't want to have to use it, EVER!
I'm happy to go with the flow on pace, Should also have SatNav with BT on so can make my number available for anyone that gets lost as can answer incoming on the move if necessary.

I agree chaps, I'm not one for riding in large groups myself, so if we all take it steady we'll all get home ok. No overtaking is always a good rule, as is riding with your lights on in a group. If i'm ahead i'll stop before each turn and wait - noones in a rush! My mate on his R1 is willing to be rear guard - he knows the route we'll be following.
As for the route, just planned a 150 ish miler around the peaks. FSM'll be pleased to know it takes in the 'cat twice (once if he's meeting at Matlock) and the cafe at Ladybower! Furthest south point Stoke. No dusty sh1t covered cart tracks - fast A roads and sceninc B roads, but nothing dangerous.
If you want to follow it on a map.....
1.From Cheadle, down the A34 road, then take the Handforth road past Prestbury to Macclesfield,
2. Up the Cat n' Fiddle for a crafty brew.
2. Drop down the Cat n' Fiddle to Buxton,
3. Along the via Gellia road to Matlock Bath to meet up, followed by a brew and chips
4. A6 to Bakewell, work over to Hathersage, Bamford and Ladybower for a brew/bovril and a pasty.
5. Take the A57 snake pass to Glossop,
6. A624 to Chapel en Le Frith then on to Buxton
7. 'Long Hill' road to Whaley Bridge
8. Decent back road over to Macclesfield - McDonalds for those who aren't full up.
9. Then up the Cat for a final brew, photoshoot and then home.
I'll maybe drop down the A54 on the way home and come back into Macclesfield that way. I'll be working my way back towards the M60, so if anyone wanted to tag along and head home with me, just say.
I aim to be done for about 4.30pm at the latest. I've got a wedding meeting at 6pm that I CANNOT miss! That said, i'll saying again, i'm rushing for nothing. If we're out from 9am, it'll be the longest day's riding i've had all year!
The route above takes in plenty of the top roads in this neck of the woods. If we keep it shiny side up we'll all be home before dark with lots of photos and happy memories. Heroes need not apply!
BTW.... what happenend last year Mike?

Was an RTA about 20 mins in from main meeting point for the Yorkshire lot. One of the non Stormers riding like a pillock (putting it mildly), no other vehicle involved.

As Mike has said, I'll reiterate, (and as we all said last year afterwards) any heroes, nutters, cowboys, starship troopers, whatever, I'll be offski

Not that for 1 minute Mike or I think that anyone on here is likely to be

F%ck me.
I went cold just reading that. Hows the fella doing these days?
I've ammended my last post, with a clearer route plan. I've also had to cut a bit off the end - i've got to be back for a wedding meeting, another reason i'm riding sensibly. That and my future spouse (42 days and counting!) is coming on the back. That post though.....its the sort of thing you don't want to even come across, let alone happen within your own group. Bad.
I'm certainly no racer on the road - i'm lucky to be here after a head on in 2001, got airlifted to Preston hospital where i spent the next 10 days. I've only just been fixed physically after that one, and i've no plans whatsoever of repeating it.
I want to talk over the winter about the fun we had, and look forward to planning the next one (borders/scotland???) next Easter...........

Well Mike I did wonder whether twas a good idea posting it or not
Ian, well, I haven't seen him personally since he was taken away in ambulance. Think Lee knows him best out of all of us and has certainly seen him since.
Last I heard, he'd bought a ZZR14 out of the insurance money from his totalled ZX12R, had a slick shifter fitted and still rides like a rock!
Allegedly place that fit his shifter lent him a bike while they fitted it. He and his mate went blatting about back up here (in dales) and both came off in same corner!
Some people never learn

Yep v happy with the dales pace (for those that were there) not too fast but not at a speed where the flys could be saved after a spell in intensive care
