Hi, I'm Mad Ax. Some of you may remember me from such forums as Visordown, Oldskoolsuzuki.info or MyLittlePonyFanClub.com. I signed up here a few weeks ago but I lost access to my home emails and couldn't get online. Anyway, I'm here now

A few months ago I sold my heavily-modified slabside 750 ratfighter and bought a '97 Firestorm from a fellow Visordowner. It was a bit tatty, having been dominoed at some point, but it ran well and had new Quill cans fitted, which clinched the deal. Unfortunately a mishap on the home with a dodgy ratched strap saw it scraping down the tarmac once again, but the damage was only minor and with a bit of heaving it was back on the road again.

I've now been riding it and loving it for a few months, and apart from a few wiring glitches and a tendency to never have as much oil as I put in yesterday, it's fine. Passed its MOT with flying colours and will soon be shod with a new set of Metzeler Z6s on the previous owner's recommendation (currently has Bridgestones fitted, the rear is almost shot, and I'm not a big fan of the bridgy characteristics on this bike).

What do I have to do to be welcomed into the fold? Buy a round? Complete the initiation ceremony? Pull down a policeman's trousers while he isn't looking..?

Which part of Bristol are you in, Pete? I live in Radstock, just south of Bath - I sometimes hang out in the St. Annes area of Bristol where some of my posse live, or sometimes pop into Tim Blakemore Racing for a cuppa and a natter, but I can usually be found lurking among the gothic shadows of Bath, getting shouted at by motorists and residents alike.

Always kind of lonely down this way, not a great many biking buddies or places to go.

How could I possibly forget? You were the only dog I've ever seen wearing a smoking jacket and Fedora.

I could potentially post some pics - they may soon become "before and after" pics as the urge to rip off the badly-scarred fairings and stick on some wide crosser bars is beginning to overcome my better sense... I don't know, it doesn't matter what I ride or drive, I can't help thinking it would look better if it was chopped up and bodged together again*

*it's also a security feature. Nobody steals a ratty bike

(o and stick with the bridgestones, provided they are 014's they are one of the best tyres you can get for the storm, the 010s and 020s arnt too shabby either!)

I'm on the North side of town out Yate. I used to work down St.Annes so I know it quite well and as for Tim, we went to the same school many moons ago so I sorta know him too.
Radstock has some great lanes around it to play in. I don't go off that way often but I always enjoy it when I do.
We have a few other Stormers around Swindon & Glousecester we'll have to have a little South West ride out some time and all get together.
