Yes.
What gearing are you on?
Standard 16/41:
6000 rpm should be 102.
Thats mechanically calculated and doesn't account for carrying weight, state of tune (or lack of) or drag etc, so you can knock a bit of that, knocking more off the faster its going. Over 120, wind resistance starts getting very big, so a true 162 isnt gonna happen at 9500 rpm, more like 150.
I calculated the stock speedo on mine was around reading 6% faster than what it was doing. But then I fitted lower gearing and a speedo healer, set it up and now what my speedo shows , I'm doing spot on.

Hey yanto,
Sounds like the Storm passed its MOT and what's more, you've ridden it over distance and 'enjoyed it' apart from the lack of bang juice obviously.
Glad to hear it matey - Thought if you gave it a fair go you'd get used to riding position etc.

Does anyone know if a 17 tooth front fits inside cover without chain fouling ? reason being as I've gone to a 43 on the rear and bike already stands on its back wheel with standard gearing, I want to tame it a bit now I've put all the bling on.
Wouldnt it be easier to put a 16/41 back on?

Good news Yanto

As I believe you were struggling with the riding position of the Firestorm. Did you fit different bars in the end, or just adjust to the different riding position

well rode back today it started to rain
bike went to 1 cylinder run out of petrol after just 80 miles
then cut out on the motorway i left it was walking down the hard shoulder
police asked was it my bike told them yes i was leaving it there
was told as its in my name i would get the bill for it being moved
got it to start run for a whille fuel light come on i thought ok for about 25 miles
7 miles run out again filled it up went back to 1 cylinder so i rung its neck for 80 miles dont know what damage it done and dont care its out on the road and it can stay there
if the police hadden turned up i was going to get a train home and leave it
6 hours to get 165 miles £30 in petrol £29 in taxis if any one has a 500cc upwards kawasaki any model i will swap it

You are lucky they didn't PNC it otherwise forgetting the MOT would have cost a £60 fixed penalty ticket. I get the impression that that might have put the tin lid on it
