Is this an off shoot of face book?
ie Facebook credentials (if you have any) get you in.
Or is it just using same layout etc and yet another uid and password required?
Cheers
Graeme.

I am the founder of Biker book, there is no need for https on the signup page, we are not collecting very important information such as payment details, do all these forums you sign up to have it? I think not!
The site is in no way involved with facebook, its a similar site just for bikers.
Thanks to all who have joined, 600+ members now in the space of 11 or so days. There is still some work to be done to the site, as with all new sites, bits here & there will be soon fixed.
I must get back to my *shed* now though! that can be found at The springboard centre in Coalville centre ;)

it's a pretty big shed!
Cheers all!

I'll check for you later on Timbo, can you tell me if its on profile comments or when you try to submit any comment? either it be on a group, profile etc. ? Have another go when you have a chance and see if its still the same.
Off out now on the bike!

nice day for it!!
Cheers

Depends what you regard as important information.
I can always use a screen email address and I can fill in the info as I want to.
Like I said, its no less secure than anything else on the web really, but with FB's privacy controls and security - I can post much more stuff than I would be comfortable with posting on Bikerbook.
I know its not built to be a FB rival, despite obviously trading on the success of FB with the name and format, and is an excellent biker related portal.
As a portal page with basic information, its good. As a Facebook for bikers, its not up there yet. I hope it is at some point, cos that would be cool and I wish you every success with it.

Not exactly, I've spoke to programmers about it and they say its not needed unless you are taking payments/address's.
Check out Myspace, Face party, these both don't use https on signups, and they are worth hell of alot of £!
No website is 100% secure as you say, hackers are able to anything they want if their good enough!
Early days still anyway.
Cheers,
Tom
