Ladies and Gents,

Anyone own some oxtar/TCX boots? My Sidi vertebras are finally worn out after 7 years or so and I'm seeing some reasonable deals on Oxtars at the moment. Well reasonable as in still too expensive but cheaper than they used to be at least.

Appreciate any imput.

Yep I own Oxtar TCS boots have had 'em bout 3 years and still very comfy, waterproof and hard wearing.

Worn them all year round with no problems, over leathers and under Richa Millenium trousers.

5 or 6 of my mates have them too, some on 2nd or 3rd pairs replacing old equivalents.

Only downside with them IMO is the squeak from the ankle protection joints. They come with a little bottle of silicon lube for them, mates swear by Mr Sheen or similar, I don't bother as it's not a big deal.

As a matter of intereat, how much are they going for? Think I paid about £150 ish for mine.

As I understand it, Oxtar have changed their name to TCX or TCS, probably why you can get a good deal. If the boots say Oxtar on them, probably last years stock. Still same boot though.

I've got Oxtar TCS and they are very comfy, hard wearing and you can walk round all day in them too.

Bit sqeaky though but with a bit of oil and fine adjustments with a sharp knife they are fine now.

Would buy another pair which I suppose is a good sign.

If they've got TCS Speed boots in black @ £88.95 I'd say get some as thats a damn good price.

They're the latest version of mine (mine all black, no white no silver (apart from toe sliders)) & like I said I paid around £150 a few years back and they're still going strong.

As Clutchmonkey says, they're comfy enough to walk around all day in.

OK they squeak, but leathers also creek / squeak - goes with the territory and you could smell of worse things than WD40, Mr Sheen, Pledge or whatever - A lot of bikers still do, smell of oil / petrol etc that was what bikers did, especially with old Brit bikes - LOL.

Could be worse, could smell of goddamn awful feckin' Patchouli oil !!!!

As I said they do come with a wee bottle of Silicon lube.

Not tried the sharpe knife adjustments myself - afterall, the 'joints' are there to help prevent your own ankle joint moving in an unnatural direction if you come off.

I've not owned Sidi boots before so can't comment on their pros and cons if any, but a cursory look on WWW suggests that the TCS come in very favourably on price compared to Sidi Vertigo if you're on a budget.

go round your local bike shops nd try a few different makes and models on, see what you're comfortable with.

At the end of the day matey you pays your money and makes your choice, but from experience, I'd buy again.
